Position: Medical Office Associate

Reports to: Practice Operations Manager

Summary: The Medical Office Associate is the first point of contact for patients and caregivers and is responsible for providing excellent customer service. The MOA greets patients, updates insurance information in the system, verifies and analyzes health insurance benefits, explains payment policies, answers phones, and other administrative tasks.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet, register, instruct, and provide general assistance to patients

Obtain demographic and financial information and enter into computer system

Verify insurance eligibility and relay relevant information on payment policies and billing/collection processes

Determine and collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, past due balances and other patient financial responsibility and maintain and balance cash drawer

Communicate with primary care providers, specialists and insurance carriers per patient request

Answer telephone, take messages and return voicemails

Offer compassionate support to patients and their caregivers during the time of their urgent medical need

Must be available to work evenings and weekends, be willing to travel to other sites, willing to travel in inclement weather

Willing to maintain all certifications relevant to the role

All other duties as assigned by Practice Operations Manager or Practice Administrator

Medical through Cigna (multiple tiers depending on coverage and cost desires)

Requirements:

Medical billing/medical receptionist experience preferred

Basic computer skills, experience with EPIC and Solv preferred

Detail oriented and excellent data entry

Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette

Ability to maintain professionalism and provide quality care in a fast-paced, public environment


Certifications:

Must be BLS certified through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
