Job description

Overview Responsibilities
  • Lead the project mechanical team and coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Provide mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects.
  • Adapt project roles based on project size and type, often acting as lead mechanical engineer and project engineering manager; may include project management tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines to complete tasks on time and within budget.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design.
  • Gas turbine, steam turbine, and/or large reciprocating engine experience or subject matter expertise.
  • Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation.
  • Experience with power consulting or EPC firms is desirable.
  • 10+ years of experience in the fossil power industry with design and owner’s engineer projects.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments and strong communication/analytical skills.
  • Willingness to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs.
  • Ability to work within an established schedule and budget.
  • Travel expected to be less than 10% for client/vendor meetings and site visits.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Professional Engineers (PE) license (or provincial equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software (examples: PLS-CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit).
  • Active commitment to being an active participant in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Preferred locations include: Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland (OR & ME), Richmond, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St Louis, Syracuse and other HDR offices.

Compensation

Targeted salary range: $108,661 – $204,250, depending on experience and location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, retirement savings with employer match, and other programs.

Primary Location: United States-Michigan-Ann Arbor; Other Locations: United States-Various.
