Job description

The Pathways Internship Program is for current students in high school, college, graduate school or a qualifying career or technical education program (which may include Registered Apprenticeship Programs, Job Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps). This program is a great opportunity to get paid and gain valuable work experience while still in school. If you successfully complete the program, you may be eligible for a full-time position with the federal government after you graduate.
Qualifications:In addition to the requirements above, you must also meet the specific qualifications requirements for this announcement and the occupational series and grade of this position as described in the Qualifications section below. To qualify for the position of Financial Management Specialist, at GS-0501-7, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND [Insert experience, if applicable]
Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Individual has been accepted for enrollment or be enrolled seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) on a full-or half-time basis (as determined by the educational institution) and may include qualifying career and technical education programs (Registered Apprenticeships, Job Corps, Climate Corps, AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other similar programs).
  • Must be in good academic standing as defined by their academic institution. These standards will be in effect for the duration of the internship.
  • Must maintain enrollment and continue education throughout the duration of employment under the Pathways Program.

I have one year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-05 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes performing the following duties: 1) Assisting in performing a variety of financial related functions and administrative work in connection with financial and accounting systems within an office; 2) Developing financial reports to submit to management; 3) Utilizing financial system to input information.
Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you are qualifying on foreign education, you MUST submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency.
