Responsibilities

Shawmutโ€™s Mission Critical business is growing rapidly as we deliver complex, fast-paced projects for leading clients nationwide. The Business Manager โ€“ Mission Critical will serve as a trusted operational partner to the Head of Mission Critical and leadership team, translating business priorities into coordinated action.

Coordinate Staffing and Workforce Deployment
  • Partner with leadership on staffing plans, hiring needs, employee assignments, project starts and completions, and workforce transitions.
  • Maintain visibility into employee deployment and proactively identify upcoming needs, conflicts, gaps, and risks.
  • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition, Human Resources, Operations, and project leadership to support staffing decisions and successful employee transitions.
Own Employee Onboarding and Mobilization
  • Lead onboarding and acclimation for new employees, coordinating communications, administrative requirements, resources, travel, and project deployment.
  • Manage employee travel, lodging, relocation, and mobilization logistics while balancing project needs, employee experience, and cost.
  • Serve as a resource and escalation point for questions involving travel, expenses, timecards, relocation, and company processes.
Build Scalable Business Processes
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve processes for onboarding, travel, relocation, deployment, project transitions, and other recurring activities.
  • Identify operational gaps and implement solutions that improve consistency, efficiency, communication, and the employee experience.
  • Create scalable workflows, tools, and accountability measures, maintaining ownership of issues through resolution.
Drive Planning, Reporting, and Accountability
  • Maintain trackers, dashboards, and reporting related to staffing, hiring, pursuits, projects, and employee deployment.
  • Provide leadership with clear visibility into upcoming needs, trends, conflicts, and execution risks.
  • Support annual and quarterly planning, goal setting, progress tracking, briefing materials, and risk-mitigation plans.
Manage Leadership Operations and Communications
  • Coordinate weekly business reviews, leadership meetings, and quarterly planning sessions, including agendas, pre-reads, materials, and follow-up.
  • Support leadership calendars, meetings, travel, presentations, announcements, and team communications.
  • Document decisions and track commitments and action items to promote accountability and alignment.
Lead Cross-Functional and Strategic Initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Mission Critical leadership and a key liaison with internal business partners.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives by defining scope, coordinating resources, tracking progress, and driving work through completion.
  • Serve as a primary operational contact for project teams, coordinating administrative, logistical, equipment, and employee needs.
Qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in construction, business operations, project coordination, or a related field; Mission Critical or data center experience is preferred.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to support senior leaders and coordinate complex work across multiple teams, functions, and locations.
  • Strong organizational, project-management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate needs and manage competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business reporting tools, with the willingness to travel to project locations as needed.

Salary Range Information

Boston Base Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 The range stated is specific to Boston. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity
