Pay:  $22 per hour

Work schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, days

Work with a purpose! Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, Texas. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping inmates gain valuable skills and treatment necessary for success upon release. 

What you'll do: You'll perform complex laundry services work involving supervising Inmate and designated employees assigned to laundry. Responsible for planning laundering schedules, proper use and maintenance of equipment and maintaining records of operations in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) directives.

Essential Functions:    

  1. Plan work schedules to meet all production requirements.
  2. Provide staff training; evaluate staff performance and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the assistant warden.
  3. Create time reports and records of all persons employed in the laundry.
  4. Supervise operation of laundry equipment; perform routine and preventive maintenance on equipment.
  5. Perform test on wash formulas.
  6. Conduct training programs in all phases of laundry operation.
  7. Provide and conduct safety training programs for all laundry employees.
  8. Train and supervise an Inmate work force in the laundry/necessities operation and conduct safety training for Inmate workers and laundry services employees to include Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  9. May perform various laundry duties which requires, lifting, bending squatting, and long periods of standing. Push and pull laundry carts. Perform security functions including "pat" and "strip" searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions.
  10. Supervise the receipt, storage, repair and issue of Inmate necessities; implement inventory control procedures.
  11. Supervise maintenance of related records and preparation for related reports.
  12. Regular and predictable attendance required.
  13. It is expected the incumbent will work overtime when directed to do so.
  14. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  15. Maintain accountability of staff, Inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. 
  • Three (3) years full-time, wage-earning correctional, commercial or institutional laundry experience.  Thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university or equivalent technical trade school courses may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis, for a maximum substitution of two (2) years. 
  • Two (2) years full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience. 
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
