About this Role

The Manager of Technical Accounting and Strategic Projects plays an integral role in advising Quanta’s senior management and operating units on complex technical accounting matters, as well as supporting or representing the accounting function in strategic projects and transactions.

This person will serve as a key technical accounting advisor and must have strong working knowledge of revenue recognition for construction contractors, joint venture accounting and consolidation analyses, leasing, business combinations, manufacturing accounting, and derivatives. The position also supports enterprise-wide strategic projects and initiatives.

This position will develop and maintain close working relationships across the organization, including with senior management, financial planning and analysis, operating unit finance departments, corporate accounting, treasury, tax, legal, and the corporate development team.

What You’ll Do
  • Technical accounting advisor supporting the Company with the practical application of complex accounting matters, primarily in revenue recognition, joint venture accounting and consolidation, and business combinations.
  • Evaluate various complex transactions and contracts against US GAAP and recommend alternative structures that meet business and financial objectives while complying with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Partner with other departments to implement new accounting standards, including updating the related processes and internal controls.
  • Prepare accounting memoranda documenting the Company’s application of accounting principles to specific transactions or events.
  • Monitor standard-setters for new and emerging accounting guidance, analyze the impact on the Company, and develop policy to support adoption and implementation.
  • Support enterprise-wide strategic projects, transactions, and initiatives, including corporate finance programs, mergers and acquisitions, integration of acquired businesses, and supply chain strategies.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships across the organization, including with senior management, financial planning and analysis, operating unit finance departments, corporate accounting, treasury, tax, legal, and the corporate development team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and advisors, consult with them on significant transactions, and document the transactions and accounting conclusions.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or business administration.
  • 6 to 10 years of combined public accounting and relevant industry experience in technical accounting.
  • "Big Four" public accounting experience, or a comparable technical accounting role at a public company.
  • Prior experience supporting the technical accounting or financial reporting function of a large accelerated SEC filer.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.
  • Experience with revenue recognition, consolidation analysis, technical accounting research, and drafting technical accounting memoranda.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in an accounting advisory or transaction services practice at a public accounting firm.
  • Experience in the national technical office of a public accounting firm.
  • A combination of public accounting and corporate industry experience.
