Senior Software Development Manager
Role Overview
We are hiring an Engineering Manager with deep technical expertise to lead a team building and modernizing a business-critical platform. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical leader who is strong in TypeScript, understands mobile and API client impacts, thinks architecturally, and can lead delivery in cloud-native environments (especially AWS, with optional experience in hybrid or multi-cloud setups).
What You Will Own
- Lead a cross-functional engineering team delivering core platform capabilities across APIs, mobile apps, desktop clients, and other integrated surfaces.
- Drive modernization initiatives, focusing on migrating towards a TypeScript-oriented service architecture (e.g., Node-based frameworks and monorepo tooling where applicable).
- Partner with Product, QA, and platform teams to define sequencing, reduce delivery risk, and maintain release predictability.
- Establish strong technical standards for service design, code quality, observability, and secure-by-default implementation.
- Support multi-region production operations and incident response practices with clear operational ownership.
- Coach engineers, strengthening team capability while maintaining technical depth in leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical leadership: Set direction for TypeScript services, API contracts, and long-term platform architecture.
- Execution leadership: Convert ambiguous initiatives into scoped, phased plans with measurable milestones and managed dependencies.
- Cloud and systems design: Guide implementation choices across AWS (e.g., messaging, queue-based workflows, managed data stores) and related hybrid integrations where relevant.
- Mobile-aware platform delivery: Ensure backend and API decisions account for mobile authentication flows, token lifecycle behavior, and coordinated releases across clients.
- Security and compliance partnership: Lead readiness for security assessments, remediation planning, and enterprise mobility or policy requirements.
- Operational excellence: Build observability and reliability practices (dashboards, alerting, health checks, post-incident learning loops).
- People management: Hire, mentor, and develop engineers while building a high-trust, high-accountability team culture.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in engineering leadership roles with direct people management responsibility.
- Strong hands-on background in TypeScript, client side and backend/API engineering.
- Proven experience leading architectural modernization or migration from legacy systems to modern service platforms.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems in AWS.
- Strong architectural judgment across scalability, reliability, maintainability, and delivery trade-offs.
- Experience managing cross-team delivery with product, QA, and platform stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Node.js ecosystems, API frameworks (e.g., NestJS), React, monorepo tooling (e.g., Nx), and related build and quality tooling.
- Experience in hybrid or multi-cloud environments (e.g., API gateways, edge routing, cross-cloud networking).
- Experience with enterprise SSO/authentication patterns and regional deployment concerns.
- Track record improving incident response, observability maturity, and release governance.
