Production Control Purchasing Coordinator

About the Role

We are hiring a Production Control Purchasing Coordinator to manage the ordering and tracking of components, raw materials, and production supplies. This position plays an important role in maintaining appropriate inventory levels, supporting manufacturing schedules, controlling freight costs, and preventing production disruptions.

The ideal candidate has previous purchasing, inventory, materials, or production control experience and is comfortable working with numbers, inventory data, suppliers, and internal manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Place purchase orders for assigned components, parts, and raw materials
  • Monitor orders and track deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule
  • Maintain inventory levels within established company targets
  • Monitor inventory turns and identify potential shortages or excess inventory
  • Control and monitor freight costs, including identifying opportunities to reduce premium freight
  • Perform quarterly and as-needed cycle counts
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and identify root causes
  • Assist with developing and implementing corrective actions for inventory issues
  • Support production requirements by ensuring materials are available when needed
  • Participate in meetings and represent the purchasing function as needed
  • Support new product and program launches for assigned parts and materials
  • Monitor product and program phase-outs to minimize obsolete inventory
  • Research alternative uses for obsolete parts and materials
  • Complete required production control and purchasing documentation
  • Cross-train within the department to provide additional support when needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing improvement programs
  • Support company quality and certification requirements
  • Work closely with purchasing, production, warehouse, suppliers, and other internal departments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
QualificationsRequired
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, materials, production control, or a related field
  • Strong math and analytical skills
