This role is based in Pharma Technical Operations Technology (PTT), an organization that is responsible for ensuring Pharma Technical Operations (PT) stays at the forefront of technology in our current and future facilities. PTT, composed of global MSAT and Engineering, realizes new assets for the PT manufacturing network of drug substance, drug product, and device industrialization facilities. You will have the opportunity to build manufacturing facilities that deliver life saving medicines to patients.

The Opportunity:

As a Senior Principal Projects Controls Manager, within the capital delivery group, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of project controls on large and/or complex facility/equipment improvement projects within our US manufacturing network as well as potentially at our international sites. For this specific opportunity, you will be part of the project delivery team delivering our new greenfield drug product campus (>$1bn), from basic design through qualification.

The successful candidate will work closely with the project management team, prioritize the program's success over personal interests, commit to continuous learning and improvement, and be capable of building and fostering a high-performing project controls team.

Post implementation you will support projects both in Holly Springs and our other US locations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and lead the project controls team, motivating them through your strong communication and leadership skills with clear decision-making in cost estimating, scheduling, risk management, resource management, cost management and change management
  • Provide internal leadership with project guidance and performance, benchmarking and predictive data, enabling strong project reporting and executive level presentations
  • Assume a leadership role in the management of external partners and ensure the partnership provides optimal value to Genentech in project cost estimation and management, risk management, schedule management and overall delivery
  • Provide strategic leadership and drive continual process and technology / system improvements to enhance execution performance
  • Apply modern methodologies (Lean, BIM, etc) to drive improved project outcomes and key performance indicators
  • With a strategic mindset you will have the ability to plan in advance and demonstrate behaviors aligned with our company culture
  • Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization
Who You Are
  • Bachelor's degree is required in Engineering, Construction Management or Business Management, masters' degree or quantity surveying degree
  • 15+ years' experience in the construction industry, project controls consultancy, or as owner's project controls lead in the biotech / pharma industry.
  • Demonstrable large project controls management experience

  • Strong expertise in current / best practices project controls techniques including cost, schedule, scope, and risk management
  • An appreciation of lean construction techniques, such as Target Value Delivery (TVD) and the Last Planner System (LPS)

Preferred :

  • Strong collaboration / teamwork focus and strong executive level communication skills
  • Proficient in common project support processes including procurement, resource management, and project communication
  • Staff management and consultant management experience required
  • Knowledge of SAP financial / accounting systems
  • Knowledge of Project Control systems and software including P6 and enterprise wide project management systems
  • Knowledge of Tableau and or Power BI
  • Advanced Google Suite skills
  • PMP certification and or MRICS status is a plus

This is a 100% full time role and preference is for locally based candidates in Holly Springs, NC. The initial project is based in Holly Springs but will require at least 30% travel.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Holly Springs, NC, is $136,200 to $253,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
