Position Summary
Academy of Hope is seeking a dynamic, learner-centered, and operationally strong leader to serve as the Manager of Workforce Instruction & Program Operations at our Ward 5 Campus. This position plays a critical leadership role in overseeing day-to-day workforce instructional operations, supporting workforce instructors and adjunct faculty, ensuring positive classroom culture, and driving learner success across workforce development programs.
Reporting directly to the Director of Workforce Development, the Manager serves as a key bridge between workforce strategy and daily instructional execution. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, solution-oriented, and passionate about supporting adult learners while managing the operational needs of a fast-paced educational environment.
This position oversees Workforce Lead Teachers, supports adjunct workforce instructors, collaborates closely with Human Resources on workforce staffing and onboarding, and works cross-functionally with Enrollment, Student Support, Operations, and Academic teams to ensure seamless learner experiences.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Workforce Instruction & Program Oversight
  • Oversee daily instructional operations of workforce development programs at the Sycamore Campus.
  • Support instructional quality, learner engagement, and classroom culture across workforce pathways.
  • Supervise Workforce Lead Teachers and support adjunct instructors.
  • Assist with classroom management, learner concerns, attendance issues, and instructional continuity.
  • Monitor instructional consistency and support workforce program improvement initiatives.
Adjunct Faculty Coordination & Staffing Support
  • Partner with Human Resources on adjunct recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and contract administration.
  • Support workforce instructional scheduling and staffing coordination.
  • Monitor instructional staffing needs and communicate operational concerns to leadership.
  • Assist with onboarding and orientation for workforce instructional staff.
Program Operations & Learner Support
  • Coordinate classroom logistics, instructional readiness, and workforce program operations.
  • Support learner persistence and retention initiatives.
  • Address learner escalations and operational concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Foster safe, organized, and learner-centered learning environments.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Serve as a visible leadership presence across workforce programming and campus operations.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership on workforce expansion and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Student Support, Enrollment, Academics, Operations, and HR teams.
  • Support organizational initiatives aligned with strategic priorities and learner outcomes.
Data, Accountability & Compliance
  • Monitor attendance, retention, credential attainment, and workforce performance indicators.
  • Support operational reporting, compliance monitoring, and data tracking efforts.
  • Ensure programs operate in alignment with organizational and grant requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Workforce Development, Public Administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in workforce development, adult education, or related educational environments.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or instructional leadership experience.
  • Experience managing instructional staff, classroom operations, or workforce programming.
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and operational management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience within adult public charter schools, workforce education, or alternative education settings.
  • Familiarity with Washington, DC workforce systems and adult education environments.
  • Experience supporting adjunct faculty management and instructional scheduling.
  • Experience with grant-funded workforce programming and compliance requirements.
