Our client, an established apparel manufacturer is currently searching for a Director of Operations. The position is opened due to the incumbent retiring. We are looking for someone eager to learn the industry as well as being mentored by the current individual for a period of 12 months. Someone who is in a managerial role looking for their next step up in the career.

Our client, an established apparel manufacturer is currently searching for a Director of Operations. The position is opened due to the incumbent retiring. We are looking for someone eager to learn the industry as well as being mentored by the current individual for a period of 12 months. Someone who is in a managerial role looking for their next step up in the career.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all production management to ensure continuous improvement of all production processes.
  • Maintain our high company standards of quality.
  • Administer efficient production scheduling to balance factory and meet delivery requirements.
  • Manage production staffing levels to maximize production efficiencies and cost compliance.
  • Reduce costs where opportunities exist without impacting productivity or quality.
  • Manage new product development and made-to-measure alteration processes.
  • Ensure timely shipments of all products throughout Canada and the USA on a daily basis.
  • Minimize production downtime through continuous preventative maintenance of the facility, machinery and equipment.
  • Manage all new equipment purchases, including needs assessment, researching options and ROI calculations.
  • Direct purchasing of all consumables.
  • Develop a strong-working relationship with the union to maintain a cohesive team.
  • Create team spirit through accomplishment of long and short term goals.
  • Ensure compliance in all aspects of health & safety.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Management or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  • Result oriented proven leader.
  • Strategic thinker.
  • Problem solver.
  • Hard working, diligent and highly motivated.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook and AS400 platform (a plus).
