Job description

Manager of Museum Visitation and Programming

As a manager of museum visitation and programming, you'll be part of a dedicated team ensuring the SCAD Museum of Art (MOA) runs smoothly. SCAD MOA is a premier contemporary art museum showcasing emerging and established international artists through commissioned works and rotating exhibitions. The museum engages local communities through curated initiatives and serves as a resource for SCAD students and alumni throughout their academic careers and beyond.

To support the museum's mission of engaging students through dynamic interdisciplinary educational experiences, you'll:
Create a membership stewardship plan, coordinate activities, and draft quarterly communications for all MOA members
Work collaboratively with the director of the Walter and Linda Evans Center for African American Studies to plan, staff, and support program initiatives and events, and assist with museum operations as needed
Build and maintain relationships with museum members
Manage an active membership database and mailing list, solicit membership renewals, and process new members' applications
Coordinate membership recruitment events or initiatives

As part of the museum's team, you'll:
Maintain relationships with the admissions team, the Savannah Tourism and Leadership Council, the Savannah Area Concierge teams, and the Chamber of Commerce to facilitate visits to the museum
Organize the museum's program calendar and verify programming dates against the SCAD master event calendar
Consult with SCAD professors, students, and museum curators on programs
Book and schedule speakers; lead rehearsals for the museum and exhibition program and create and distribute the run of show; and manage and attend community outreach events
Initiate and manage annual membership campaign

Additionally, you'll:
Serve as the primary museum ambassador for school and community groups
Distribute printed marketing materials to local businesses, K-12 schools, and media outlets
Assist the operations manager with student staff training and professional development
Oversee theater and museum social space programs and reservations
Provide appropriate accommodations and guidance to ensure the museum's mission and vision are met and to comply with all policies, regulations, and safety guidelines

Minimum qualifications:
B.F.A. in art history, preservation, or a related field

Preferred qualifications:
M.F.A. in art history, preservation, or a related field

Travel required:
Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
