Position Overview

The Operations/Construction Manager serves as a pivotal leader responsible for the end-to-end management of one or multiple industrial construction projects. This role ensures projects meet agreed-upon business objectives, timelines, and budgets while driving excellence and safety at every stage. As the organization's representative, the manager champions effective operational practices and cultivates collaboration across cross-functional teams to support the Canadian market's growth and success.
This position demands strategic oversight combined with hands-on leadership to guide project execution, navigate complex challenges, and foster strong partnerships with stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.

District Overview

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of "partnering", working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. Location

This position will be based out of Ontario, and will support projects over all over Canada. 

Responsibilities

As the Operations/Construction Manager, your core responsibilities encompass the following:

  • Championing project objectives and actively promoting the project's value throughout the organization to secure engagement and resources.
  • Offering expert business guidance and strategic support to Project Managers, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Serving as a critical liaison among project teams, corporate leadership, and external stakeholders to facilitate efficient decision-making and communication flow.
  • Arbitrating complex project challenges and making authoritative decisions when required beyond the Project Manager's scope.
  • Validating and prioritizing business needs to ensure projects are initiated with clear direction and maintained as viable investments.
  • Managing change control processes to assess and mitigate risks while maintaining project integrity.
  • Establishing and overseeing the project's organizational structure, defining roles, responsibilities, and reporting lines for effective governance.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to all safety policies and guidelines, fostering a culture of safety-first practices across all project phases.
  • Reviewing and approving key deliverables, ensuring quality standards and contractual commitments are met.
  • Organizing and facilitating regular project reviews to monitor progress, address challenges, and implement continuous improvement.
  • Resolving conflicts and removing obstacles to maintain project momentum and resource optimization.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline from a recognized four-year post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of six years' progressive experience in the construction industry with proven expertise managing large-scale industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership of multi-million dollar contracts, encompassing oversight of operations, project administration, client and stakeholder relations, and comprehensive scope management.
  • Proficiency in project control and administrative software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook, to support efficient project management.
  • A Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable and considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to lead diverse teams, negotiate effectively, and build lasting partnerships.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within dynamic project environments. #LI-IS1

Base Compensation: $100,000/yr - $140,000/yr
