Job description

Department/Division/Section: Operations – Housekeeper


Job Summary/Essential Functions: The Housekeeping Department is responsible for upholding and maintaining the cleanliness and safety standards of Ripley’s Aquarium & Attractions, regardless of the time of day or time of year.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Reporting to work on time and in proper uniform.
  • Following all safety procedures and chemical handling guidelines. Including wearing proper gloves and encouraging coworkers to do the same.
  • Emptying trashcans and sanitary receptacles as well as picking up trash inside and out.
  • Keeping the entire grounds outside the facility clean and free of trash, gum, stray pine straw, etc.
  • Cleaning toilets and urinals.
  • Stocking towels, toilet tissue, soap and air-freshener.
  • Sweeping, scrubbing and mopping floors.
  • Stripping and waxing hard floors.
  • Vacuuming carpet.
  • Shampooing carpet.
  • Dusting silk plants, signs, walls, lights, etc.
  • Cleaning up accidents.
  • Cleaning windows and mirrors.
  • Cleaning acrylic.
  • Informing Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager of Operations immediately of anything broken or needing attention.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Work may involve stepladders, or lifts, reaching overhead, bending, and stooping, climbing and crawling.
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 0-2 years in a housekeeping role
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Articulate, friendly and well-spoken.

Language: Fluent in English
