GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Research, field measure, estimate, scheme, design, plan, organize and direct the operations and personnel in the Field Operations Department to ensure an efficient, safe, quality driven, and productive operation consistent with Company goals.

Develop plans in conjunction with marketing of High Structural Erectors LLC, Inc. abilities in bridge and concrete structure erection. Develop rapport with contractors, state material and bridge engineers, and outside vendors and subcontractors that result in the growth of High Structural Erectors LLC bridge erection business.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND /OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Requires 10 years experience in bridge and concrete structure erection, including hands on and field site experience and responsibility for engineering on bridge and concrete structure erection projects. Bachelor’s degree Civil or Structural Engineering, with additional study in Management, etc. preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Professional Engineer’s license preferred.

DIMENSIONS:

Responsible for bridge and concrete structure erection volume including new steel, rehabilitation projects, concrete parking garages and buildings with sales volume between $5 - $10 million dollars annually and marketing of High Structural Erectors LLC capabilities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Accountable to Vice President Managing Director. Direct reports to this position will be the Superintendent. Indirect reports include Foremen – Field Operations, Erection Equipment Coordinator, and Ironworkers I, II, and III.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and direct implementation of approved short term and long range strategies associated with Field Operations.
  • Direct sales research to determine current market conditions, including type, number and project locations. Based upon market research, develop and direct the implementation of approved programs designed to increase market share and profitability.
  • Provide necessary input to Planning, Engineering and Scheduling to coordinate required information insuring efficient, safe, and economical project erection.
  • Direct the development of and review engineering drawings related to bridge and concrete structure erection or rehabilitation.
  • Estimate and bid rehabilitation/new steel projects ensuring that the VP Managing Director approves final pricing and scope on contracts.
  • Establish needed payroll, security, and salary issues related to projects awarded and insurance conformity with contract requirements.
  • Formulate manpower requirements with Field Operation personnel on a weekly basis in conjunction with the Foremen.
  • Manage communications with contractors concerning preliminary requirements, procedures and schedules to ensure progress and profitability of projects.
  • Direct Foremen in their individual project goals and review job outcome at completion. Develop procedures and plans to improve efficiency.
  • Insure that estimate data by job are broken down, understood, and utilized by Foremen as a planning and monitoring tool.
  • Analyze job costs and performance to estimate on a weekly basis. Utilize information to redirect Field Operations and related administrative activities to improve overall performance with respect to Field Operations Projects.
  • Assist Engineering and Estimating Departments as required in bidding of projects requiring erection of new bridge steel or rehabilitation and concrete structures. Provide leadership to develop and improve existing procedures to assure accuracy with the bidding process.
  • Direct Bridge Erection, Bridge Rehabilitation and concrete structure projects to comply with all safety and OSHA, PCI, EPA, NRC, AISC and other agency rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Foremen are performing daily planning and safety huddles. Attend all safety meetings as directed, communicating all pertinent safety information back to Field Operations’ co-workers. Promote all opportunities to Foremen and crew members to develop and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Provide accurate monthly forecasts utilizing the SAP system for HSE third party work along with work for our sister companies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in the evaluation of performance of individuals who work in Field Operations and the granting of wage increases for these individuals.
  • Keeps the VP Managing Director informed on problems, progress and major changes in procedures and personnel planned with the Field Operations area.
  • Visits vendor/customer offices as necessary to assure communications efforts and plans lead to performance that is beneficial to High Structural Erectors LLC’s overall objectives and profitability.
  • Visits job sites as necessary to ensure progress and problem resolution occurs in a manner that is most advantageous to High Structural Erectors LLC.
  • Promotes a favorable image of High Structural Erectors LLC with contractors and government officials that in turn promote the goodwill of others toward the company.
