Moraine Valley's Health, Fitness & Recreation Center in Palos Hills, Illinois is a state-of-the-art 113,000-square-foot facilitycommitted to providing a diverse offering of programs and services to individuals and families, including Moraine Valleystudents, employees and community members. The facility is highlighted by a large fitness center, a 3-court gymnasium,and a recreational pool. The facility is open nearly 110 hours per week with a variety of membership options for students,employees, seniors, and all other members of the community.
Responsibilities
Oversee the operation of the MVCC Health, Fitness & Recreation Center (HFRC), including but not limited to, staff supervision, risk management, customer service, emergency response, cash handling, membership sales and program knowledge.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead Shift Teams: Manage and delegate tasks to up to 10 student and part-time staff members
  • Mentor Staff: Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective measures
  • Ensure Compliance: Enforce all facility policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Monitor Safety: Conduct facility inspections before, during, and after shifts to mitigate risks
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Partner with custodial staff to ensure high standards of facility cleanliness
  • Access Control: Verify patron identification and resolve building eligibility or access issues
  • Log Operations: Complete required shift documentation and record daily updates in the central log
  • Manage Transactions: Process memberships, locker rentals, and program registrations accurately
  • Software Troubleshooting: Utilize RecAuto software for sales and resolve system or membership issues
  • Handle Cash: Follow strict cash handling practices to ensure accurate revenue reconciliation
  • Engage Patrons: Deliver high-quality customer service, conduct tours, and resolve complaints
  • Emergency Response: Execute emergency action plans and document all medical or non-medical incidents
  • Event Execution: Set up and manage facility rentals and special events during assigned shifts
  • Campus Liaison: Coordinate with Campus Operations, Police, Athletics, Academics, and building partners
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Maintain current Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid certification (certification provided by HFRC)
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and handle several tasks at once with frequent interruptions
  • Strong interpersonal communication, decision making and conflict resolution skills
  • Comfortable responding to emergencies & leading risk management plan
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Exceptional customer service skills
