Job Description - Wall Street Financial Trading Firm


Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Financial Reporting Manager to join our fast-paced financial trading firm located on Wall Street. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with a minimum of six years of progressive accounting experience, demonstrating strong leadership and technical expertise, particularly within the Broker-Dealer sector. This role is critical in overseeing all accounting functions, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and timely completion of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and firm-specific requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance (Broker-Dealer Focus): Manage and ensure compliance with all SEC, FINRA, and other regulatory reporting requirements, including the preparation of FOCUS Reports and supporting schedules (e.g., Net Capital, Customer Protection Rule 15c3-3 computations).
  • General Ledger Management: Direct the general ledger and all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset management.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Coordinate the annual budget process and perform ongoing financial forecasting, variance analysis, and operational performance reporting.
  • Internal Controls: Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure the integrity of the firm's financial data and safeguard assets.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • License: Active and unrestricted Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is mandatory.
  • Industry Expertise: Mandatory experience working with or for a registered Broker-Dealer. Deep understanding of financial products traded (equities, fixed income, derivatives, etc.) and related accounting principles.
  • Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of US GAAP and SEC/FINRA regulations; proficiency in financial accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the proven ability to lead and manage a team under strict deadlines.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's degree is a plus.
