Description

The Marketing Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities' digital marketing function.


Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position manages the organization's digital marketing ecosystem, including website management, email marketing systems, audience engagement, search engine optimization (SEO), paid media, and analytics, to support volunteer recruitment, donor engagement, fundraising, and community awareness.

The Manager translates strategic priorities established by the Director into coordinated digital marketing initiatives, manages specialized digital resources and vendor relationships, and continuously evaluates opportunities to improve organizational performance through data and audience insights.


This role serves as the department's digital marketing subject matter expert and collaborates across the organization to implement integrated marketing initiatives aligned with agency priorities.


Job Details

Location: Hybrid (In office requirement on Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Hiring Salary Range: $58,000-$66,000 Starting salary will depend on your skills and demonstrated readiness for the role. 

Hours/Day: Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week - including evenings and weekends once or twice a month.

Essential Job Functions

Digital Marketing Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization's digital marketing ecosystem.
  • Translate marketing and communications strategies established by the Director into coordinated digital implementation plans.
  • Develop digital campaign plans supporting volunteer recruitment, fundraising, donor engagement, events, and organizational awareness.
  • Recommend tactical improvements based on campaign performance, audience behavior, industry trends, and emerging technology.
  • Support continuous improvement of the organization's digital audience journey from awareness through conversion.

Email Marketing & Audience Engagement

  • Manage the organization's email marketing platform (Constant Contact or similar).
  • Develop and maintain audience segmentation, email automation, workflows, and personalization.
  • Evaluate and optimize the organization's email strategy, newsletter structure, and audience engagement.
  • Monitor email performance metrics and recommend improvements to increase engagement and conversion.
  • Partner with the Marketing Coordinator on email content production, scheduling, quality assurance, and distribution.

Website Management & SEO

  • Serve as the primary liaison with the organization's website vendor.
  • Manage website priorities, enhancements, testing, maintenance, and optimization.
  • Lead implementation of SEO best practices that improve discoverability, accessibility, and user experience.
  • Monitor website analytics, user behavior, and conversion pathways.
  • Recommend improvements that strengthen the organization's digital presence and audience experience.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Coordinator on website content publishing and maintenance.

Paid Media

  • Manage day-to-day implementation of paid media campaigns through Feathr or similar, Meta, Google, and other approved advertising platforms.
  • Coordinate campaign setup, targeting, budgets, creative implementation, optimization, and reporting.
  • Monitor campaign performance and recommend improvements that maximize return on investment.
  • Coordinate with advertising vendors and platform partners.
  • Provide performance updates and recommendations to the Director.

Analytics & Performance Measurement

  • Develop and maintain marketing dashboards and digital performance reports.
  • Analyze website, email, paid media, SEO, and campaign performance.
  • Monitor organizational marketing KPIs and audience engagement trends.
  • Partner with internal data teams to improve attribution and reporting.
  • Translate data into actionable recommendations that support organizational decision-making.
  • Maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for digital marketing operations.
  • Support CRM integrations and digital platform enhancements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Development, Community Engagement & Recruitment, Programs, and other departments to translate approved business objectives into coordinated digital marketing initiatives.
  • Coordinate digital implementation plans with internal stakeholders while ensuring alignment with departmental priorities established by the Director.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with website, advertising, analytics, and marketing vendors.
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and digital marketing priorities.

General Marketing & Communications Support

  • Support agency-wide marketing campaigns and organizational initiatives.
  • Assist with digital vendor contracts, invoices, platform renewals, and approved marketing budgets.
  • Participate in annual planning, project management, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Digital Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in digital marketing, marketing communications, audience engagement, or related fields.
  • Experience managing email marketing platforms and marketing automation.
  • Experience managing website content management systems (WordPress or similar).
  • Experience implementing digital marketing campaigns.
  • Experience analyzing marketing performance and reporting results.
  • Experience coordinating vendors and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Preferred Nonprofit marketing experience.
  • Preferred experience with Feathr or comparable digital advertising platforms.
  • Preferred experience with Salesforce or CRM integrations.
  • Preferred experience implementing SEO strategies.
  • Preferred experience using AI-enabled marketing technologies.

Physical Requirements

This position operates in a hybrid environment that includes office work and frequent presence in community and event settings. The role requires the ability to set up and break down outreach and tabling materials, including lifting, carrying, and transporting items up to approximately 40-50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.


The position also requires extended periods of standing, walking, and engaging with the public at community events, as well as regular use of standard office equipment and technology such as computers, mobile devices, and phones. Reliable transportation is required to travel to community locations throughout the Twin Cities.
