Job description

GCG is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Warehouse Operations to join our Automation & Factory Solutions (AFS) division, lead operations for our distribution network (consisting of 4 warehouse locations), and transform our warehouses into strategic assets for the business. In this role, you’ll oversee multiple warehouse locations, ensuring every shipment, process, and workflow contributes to a seamless customer experience.

You’ll have the opportunity to strengthen warehouse operations through technology, data insights, and continuous improvement, while building and mentoring a high-performing team. Your leadership will not only drive operational excellence and strengthen customer trust, but also shape how GCG Automation & Factory Solutions scales its business and competes in the marketplace.

This position will report into our Rochester Hills, MI facility; however, intermittent travel (35%) to other division warehouse facilities will be required. 

What you'll do

Operational Excellence 

  • Lead daily warehouse operations, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency across receiving, storage, picking, and shipping functions across multiple warehouse locations
  • Own all aspects of warehouse inventory management: cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, inventory accuracy, and cost analysis, and indirect supply replenishment
  • Optimize racking, slotting, and layout to reduce storage costs
  • Oversee vendor and carrier communications regarding logistics, service levels, and escalation resolution
  • Streamline receiving, picking, packing, and shipping workflows to reduce errors and lead times

 Exceptional Customer Service  

  • Improve pick accuracy and shipping speed to drive high on-time delivery and strengthen customer trust 
  • Partner with internal teams (purchasing, sales, customer support) to resolve issues and align warehouse execution with business needs
  • Oversee and manage the customer RMA process & personnel, ensuring timely resolution, alignment with quality standards at each location and KPI creation / management drive process improvement upstream and downstream
  • Tailor fulfillment processes for strategic customers (e.g., special packaging or labeling) 

Improve Productivity  

  • Drive adoption and optimization of technology (scanning, conveyors, robotics, WMS) to streamline processes and reduce errors
  • Use metrics to improve output per labor hour 
  • Monitor and report on KPIs (safety, accuracy, on-time shipments, productivity) and drive operational improvements to achieve or exceed performance targets
  • Apply continuous improvement methods (Kaizen, Six Sigma) to eliminate waste and bottlenecks 

Ensure Workplace Safety and Compliance  

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies; champion a safe and compliant work environment
  • Ensure compliance with ISO certification requirements through audit preparation, process documentation, and corrective action management. This may include managing external resources such as ISO consultants
  • Develop quality manuals and operations guides and train teams

Develop a High Performing Team  

  • Manage, mentor, and develop warehouse managers, team leads, and associates
  • Set performance expectations and foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
  • Lead workload planning and balancing and cross-train teams to meet fluctuating business demands
  • Lead adoption of new technologies and processes while keeping morale high

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years of progressive warehouse management, specifically within a distribution environment 
  • Deep knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics best practices
  • Experience leading teams of 15+ employees, with proven ability to train, coach, develop and manage talent
  • Demonstrated experience implementing warehouse technology and productivity solutions with demonstrated ROI and cost savings
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams) and ERP experience required; Epicor Prohet21 or Oracle experience preferred
  • Forklift & other mobile equipment certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical and organizational skills with a proactive, continuous improvement-oriented mindset
  • A love for data and a talent for uncovering insights from data that drive productivity improvement initiatives and prove out ROIs
  • 35% travel required, to warehouse locations in Miamisburg, OH, Germantown, WI, Chesterfield, MO, and Brampton, ON, CAD
