Job description

PROLIM (www.prolim.com) is currently seeking CAD Application Engineer - PTC Creo - Vancouver, WA. Qualified candidates can directly send your updated resume and contact info via email veni.nalla@prolim.com Must be US Citizen/ GC Holder
Summary:
The CAD Application Engineer - PTC Creo, reporting to the Director of Engineering Systems, is the enterprise owner and hands-on authority for PTC Creo within Client mechanical engineering environment. This role is responsible for enterprise-wide configuration, administration, and day-to-day enablement of Creo, and for establishing and enforcing CAD standards, best practices, and consistent usage across the organization.
This position requires deep, hands-on experience using PTC Creo as a primary mechanical CAD tool and strong functional experience using Windchill PLM within an engineering environment. The role is not responsible for Windchill system administration, configuration, or PLM support; however, the incumbent must be highly proficient in using Windchill as an engineer - including managing CAD data, maintaining product structures, understanding lifecycle states, and executing standard release workflows in a PLM-managed environment.
This is an onsite, engineering-facing position requiring advanced mechanical CAD and product development experience. It is not an IT application packaging, desktop support, or PLM administration role. The CAD Application Lead operates in a customer-facing engineering environment, providing mentoring, coaching, and just-in-time training to the engineering end users to improve design efficiency, CAD data quality, and standards adherence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position encompasses five primary areas of responsibility:
Enterprise Creo Application Management/Administration (Primary Focus)
• Act as the enterprise subject matter expert and owner for PTC Creo, with responsibility for how Creo is used across mechanical engineering teams and sites.
• Own and maintain Creo configuration elements including start parts/templates, drawing formats, symbol libraries, parameters/attributes, model properties, naming conventions, configuration files, and launch scripts/environment settings.
• Coordinate version alignment, patching, and upgrade readiness with IT and external vendors while retaining ownership of Creo usage configuration and standards.
• Ensure consistent Creo behavior, performance optimization practices, and application stability.
CAD Standards, Governance, and Best Practices
• Define, document, and enforce enterprise Creo modeling and drawing standards.
• Establish best practices for parametric modeling, complex geometry, large assemblies, and drawing quality.
• Drive disciplined adoption of standards across engineering teams.
PLM Knowledge & Engineering Business Process Mentoring
• Demonstrate strong functional proficiency using Windchill PLM from an engineering user perspective.
• Apply Windchill knowledge to ensure correct CAD data usage, revisions, lifecycle states, and release readiness as it relates to Creo and other CAD tools.
• Mentoring engineers with proper usage of CAD-PLM workflows (e.g., check-in/out, revisions, structures, metadata expectations).
• Partner with PLM and Engineering Systems stakeholders as a knowledgeable consumer of Windchill, not as a system administrator or configuration owner. Customer-Facing User Enablement (Mentoring & Training)
• Serve as the escalation point for advanced Creo usage issues.
• Coach users on efficient, standards-compliant practices and provide hands-on mentoring and ad-hoc training focused on Creo, with Windchill usage reinforced as part of standard engineering workflows.
• Develop standard work, job aid, and quick-reference materials supporting CAD usage in a PLM-managed environment.
• Facilitate internal enablement sessions to reinforce best practices and standard adoption. Cross-Functional and Multi-CAD Support
• Support engineering teams operating in a multi-CAD environment.
• Partner with PLM and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent CAD-PLM workflows and release readiness.
• Ensure CAD outputs meet downstream Manufacturing, Quality, and operational requirements.
• Participate in evaluation of CAD system enhancements and productivity improvements.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience managing, administering, and supporting mechanical Creo CAD in a production engineering environment with demonstrated lead-level responsibility.
• Advanced hands-on experience using PTC Creo in a mechanical engineering environment, including complex modeling, large assemblies, drawings, and performance optimization.
• 3+ years of product development experience using PTC Creo, for product design from concept through release.
• Demonstrated enterprise-wide experience installing, configuring, deploying, and administering PTC Creo.
• Demonstrated experience in a customer-facing role providing application mentoring, coaching, and ad-hoc training.
• Strong functional experience using Windchill PLM in an engineering environment, including: o Managing CAD data within PLM
o Understanding product structures and lifecycle states
o Executing standard engineering related workflows
o Experience supporting a multi-CAD environment (Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks is beneficial)
• Hands-on experience managing and supporting enterprise CAD system implementations, with a solid understanding of related business processes and business user requirements.
• Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to work with global, multinational, and remote teams in a matrix organization.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, customers, and other department personnel.
Candidate Profile Note:
This role requires advanced mechanical engineering CAD expertise with PTC Creo as the primary tool, and strong practical experience using Windchill PLM as an engineering user. Candidates whose background is primarily PLM system administration, IT support, or Windchill configuration-without significant hands-on Creo-based product development experience-will not be considered.
Qualifications and Competencies:
• Communication: Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.
• Initiative: Tackles problems and takes independent action, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self-development.

• Customer Focus: Builds customer confidence, is committed to increasing customer satisfaction, sets achievable customer expectations, assumes responsibility for solving customer problems, ensures commitments to customers are met, solicits opinions and ideas from customers.
• Quality: Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems.
• Productivity: Manages a fair workload, volunteers for additional work, prioritizes tasks, develops good work procedures, meets deadlines, and handles information flow.
• Execution: Getting the job done, problem solving, driving for results, exercising control; setting high goals, using measurements, and accountability; tenaciously working to meet or exceed goals; continuously improving themselves and the business.
• Planning/Project Management: Develops realistic plans, sets goals, aligns plans with company goals, plans for and manages resources, creates contingency plans, coordinates/cooperates with others on projects, spends resources wisely and produces the desired results.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, verbalize, and comprehend instructions and correspondence in the English language. Ability to effectively present information to all levels of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Must have mathematical skills equivalent to those required under degree requirement.
Physical and Visual Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-far, acuity-near, depth perception and field of vision.
Physical Demands: May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. May require lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance. Travel as required.
Environment/Atmospheric Conditions: This position requires working in a shop and office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
