Job Summary
Manages and coordinates administrative functions within an assigned office or division. Responsible for the leadership and operational management related to, but not limited to; utilization review process, discharge planning, chart completeness, governmental regulations, and rules.
As a Manager at Owensboro Health, you lead daily operations and team performance within your assigned unit or department. You champion our Safety Culture and foster continuous improvement and Target Zero performance. You are responsible for implementing policies, managing workflows, and supporting staff development. You play a critical role in advancing patient safety, reducing harm, achieving departmental goals and promoting a just culture through hands-on leadership and proactive problem-solving.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assists with developing specific department goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Performs and oversees scheduling, recruitment, and payroll.
  • Monitors department budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determines and justifies needs for systems, equipment, supply purchases, monitors usage, and oversees proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Supports special projects and business analysis as requested.
  • Responsible for Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance rules, regulations, and compliance.
  • Collaborates with Auditing, Business Office, and Administration regarding final billing process and chart integrity.
  • Understands rules and regulations regarding abuse/neglect and effective communication.

  • Performance Management - Accountable for the performance and results of the team applying knowledge of key business drivers and the factors that maximize departmental performance.
  • Team Building and Development - Builds and fosters a positive team culture, identifying individual strengths and providing opportunities for growth. Develops departmental plans, to address department and organizational priorities.
  • Resource Management - Effectively allocates resources, manages budgets, and optimizes team productivity.
  • Decision Making - Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.
  • Communication - Clearly communicates goals, expectations, and updates the team using active listening and promoting open communication channels.
  • Conflict Resolution - Identifies and addresses conflicts within the team, facilitating constructive dialogue, and finding solutions to disagreements.
  • Change Management - Leads and adapts to organizational changes, communicating effectively during transitions, and engages the team in the process.
  • Leadership Development - Actively engages in the Leadership Development Program by enrolling in the program within the first 6 months of employment and completing the program within the first 2 years of employment.
  • Workforce Safety Statement - Prioritizes the physical and psychological safety of the workforce as a foundational element of high-reliability care. Ensure goals are established with effective monitoring and reporting to improve workforce safety and wellbeing. Position Requirements:
Work Experience
  • A minimum of 4 years' relevant experience required

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing or Social Work required upon hire

Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • RN - Licensed as a Registered Nurse. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky OR
  • LSW - Licensed Social Worker in the State of Kentucky OR
  • LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Kentucky OR
  • CSW - Certified Social Worker in the State of Kentucky required upon hire
