What is a manager of collections?

A Manager of Collections is a professional responsible for overseeing a team that manages the collection of overdue payments from individuals or businesses. Their duties include developing collection strategies, monitoring staff performance, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and maintaining positive relationships with clients or customers. They often analyze collection data to improve processes and report on collection activity to upper management. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential for this role.

As a Manager of Collections, one common challenge is balancing the need to recover outstanding debts while maintaining positive customer relationships. This role often requires implementing effective collection strategies, managing a team of collectors, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Regular collaboration with other departments, such as customer service and finance, helps to resolve disputes and improve collection rates.

Our mission is to provide entrepreneurs with the working capital they need to elevate their businesses. At OPF, we believe in working with high-performing individuals who are ready to play an integral part in our company's expansion — because our success hinges on our people.

Why Join Us?

At OPF, we foster a dynamic and inclusive company culture that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and personal growth. Our team is composed of passionate, driven individuals who are committed to making a difference. Here’s what you can expect when you join our team:

  • Innovative Environment: Work with cutting-edge technology and be part of a team that is constantly pushing the boundaries of fintech.
  • Professional Growth: We invest in our employees’ growth with continuous learning opportunities, training programs, and career advancement paths.
  • Supportive Culture: Enjoy a supportive and inclusive work environment where your ideas are valued, and your contributions make a real impact.
  • Community Focus: Be part of a company that understands the importance of small and mid-sized businesses to their communities and the nation’s financial health.
  • High-Performing Team: Join a team of badasses who are committed to excellence and are integral to our company's expansion and success.
About the Role

One Park Financial is seeking a Vice President of Servicing & Collections to serve as the executive leader of our entire collections operations. This is a senior leadership role with full ownership of the Servicing and Collections department — including its people, strategy, systems, and results.

The VP of Servicing & Collections will oversee a multi-layered leadership structure of Directors, Managers, and Team Leads, driving recovery performance across a high-volume portfolio while ensuring the organization operates with integrity, compliance, and operational precision. This role is a key partner to OPF's executive team and is directly responsible for shaping the long-term collections strategy in alignment with the company's financial and growth objectives.

The ideal candidate is an experienced executive who has led large-scale collections organizations, built performance infrastructure from the ground up, and consistently delivered recovery results in a regulated, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full strategic and operational direction of our Servicing & Collections department — setting the vision, establishing performance standards, and holding the leadership team accountable to results.
  • Lead and develop a multi-tiered leadership structure (Directors, Managers, Team Leads) and build a pipeline of high-caliber collections talent at every level.
  • Design and implement enterprise-wide collections performance frameworks: recovery KPIs, scoring models, escalation protocols, incentive structures, and accountability systems.
  • Partner with the C-suite and executive leadership to define annual and quarterly recovery targets, and translate those goals into operational roadmaps with clear ownership and milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement in recovery rates, right-party contact rates, promise-to-pay conversion, and cost-per-collected-dollar through data analysis and strategic intervention.
  • Establish and enforce a culture of compliance — ensuring all collections activity adheres to applicable regulations, company policy, and data protection standards at all times.
  • Oversee portfolio performance analysis and reporting, providing executive leadership with reliable, real-time visibility into collections health, trends, and forecasts.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Finance, Operations, Legal, and Technology to align collections infrastructure, systems, and workflows with broader business needs.
  • Champion process automation, dialer optimization, and technology enhancements that improve team efficiency and recovery outcomes.
  • Serve as the final decision-maker on escalations, workforce planning, organizational design, and performance actions within the Collections function.
  • Represent the Collections organization in global leadership meetings, strategic planning sessions, and executive reporting as required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in collections, recovery, or financial services operations, with at least 5 years in a senior or executive leadership role.
  • Proven track record of leading and scaling large-scale, high-volume collections organizations — ideally in fintech, alternative lending, or consumer/SMB financial services.
  • Experience managing leaders of leaders: overseeing Directors and Senior Managers, not just front-line supervisors.
  • Deep expertise in collections strategy, recovery optimization, skip tracing, negotiation frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Executive-level communication skills — able to present performance insights and strategic recommendations to C-suite and board stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical ability; experienced with CRM platforms, dialer systems, BI tools, and portfolio reporting at an organizational level.
  • Fully bilingual — English and Spanish required.
  • High integrity and accountability; deep understanding of regulatory compliance in collections environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree or MBA strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a large collections operation.
  • Background in organizational design, collections compensation strategy, or workforce planning.
  • Familiarity with relevant financial regulations and consumer/commercial collections compliance frameworks.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing collections technology platforms (dialers, CRMs, automation tools).
  • Competitive salary
  • Performance-based incentives
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Health, dental & vision insurance.
  • Life insurance and identity protection.
  • Growth and development opportunities
  • Dynamic and collaborative work environment
  • Company events and team-building activities
