Gritter Francona is looking for a Senior Health System Specialist to provides senior-level operational, strategic, and technical leadership supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization initiatives. This position directly supports VHA's mission to deliver timely, accessible, and high-quality care to Veterans by ensuring the Oracle Health Millennium EHR functions safely, reliably, and efficiently throughout Go-Live stabilization, Post Go-Live (PGL) performance recovery, and ongoing operational support.

The Senior Health System Specialist provides enterprise-level health system expertise that extends beyond traditional clinical informatics. The role addresses operational, policy, governance, and cross-functional health system requirements that support VHA EHR modernization efforts and enterprise operations.  Works collaboratively with clinical informaticists, program leadership, technical teams, and VA stakeholders to ensure continuity of clinical operations, patient safety, and successful implementation of EHR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior operational and strategic support for VHA EHR modernization programs, including Go-Live surge support, Post Go-Live stabilization, performance recovery, and ongoing operational initiatives.
  • Support enterprise efforts that ensure uninterrupted clinical operations, including medication ordering, clinical documentation, laboratory and diagnostic results reporting, and Clinical Decision Support (CDS) functionality.
  • Serve as a senior advisor on health system operations, policy implementation, governance, and organizational change related to Oracle Health Millennium deployment and optimization.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of clinical informaticists supporting enterprise EHR initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities among clinical, operational, technical, and executive stakeholders to resolve complex system and workflow issues.
  • Apply project management methodologies and change management principles to support enterprise initiatives, organizational readiness, and implementation activities.
  • Analyze operational requirements and recommend process improvements that enhance system performance, clinical workflows, and patient safety.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of VA databases, enterprise applications, and their interrelationships to support ongoing development, enhancement, and optimization of the VA informatics environment.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support operational decision-making across multiple EHR initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for operational planning, enterprise governance activities, performance monitoring, and strategic initiatives supporting VHA priorities.
  • Develop executive-level reports, briefings, recommendations, and documentation supporting program objectives and organizational decision-making.
  • Ensure all activities align with VHA policies, regulatory requirements, and enterprise operational objectives.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Information Systems, Business Administration, Nursing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience supporting healthcare operations, health informatics, EHR modernization, or enterprise health system initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is required.
  • Extensive experience supporting Oracle Health Millennium (formerly Cerner Millennium) clinical operations and enterprise implementation activities.
  • Demonstrated expertise supervising or leading multidisciplinary teams supporting clinical informatics or enterprise healthcare technology initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of VA databases, enterprise applications, and their interrelationships supporting the VA informatics environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies, organizational change management principles, and healthcare operational improvement.
  • Experience supporting large-scale federal healthcare modernization programs, Go-Live events, or enterprise operational surge support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • Prosci Change Management Certification or comparable organizational change management certification.
  • Experience supporting enterprise governance, policy development, and executive-level healthcare operations.
  • Experience supporting federal healthcare IT modernization programs within complex clinical environments.
