Description

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Manager of Accounting to join our team and contribute to our success. Our company prides itself on delivering exceptional service and innovative solutions in the logistics and transportation industry. This role will report directly to the VP and be responsible for overseeing the accounting department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire accounting cycle, including month-end close, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets for three transportation companies and a holding company.
  • Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee tax compliance and filing requirements.
  • Assist in treasury functions, including cash flow management, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
  • On call night and weekend rotation once every four weeks.
Requirements
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in public accounting, preferably with a focus on the transportation industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Experience with accounting software systems, McLeod (and QuickBooks) a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel (in addition to Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
