Job description

Seeking a Fulltime Structural Engineer to join our team in our Charlotte, NC office. The successful candidate will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers supporting plant modification packages, evaluations, and studies for the nuclear power industry.
***** THIS WILL BE A HYBRID OPPORTUNITY, WORKING TUESDAY THRU THURSDAY IN THE OFFICE*****
• Include design and modification of steel and concrete structures for the nuclear power industry.
• Capable of preparing civil/structural calculations and evaluations in support of various design activities including, but not limited to the design of piping, cables and small equipment supports, instrument rack design, floor load impacts to concrete structures, equipment anchoring, and seismic response evaluations.
• Able to develop material and workhour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.
• Exercise sound engineering judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design criteria.
• Interface with plant stakeholders to determine project scope/requirements, support construction/implementation and start up activities as required.
Job Requirements
Minimum Security Clearance:
Bondable
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (2 years nuclear) in structural design.
• The ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
Preferred
• Duke Energy Nuclear experience
• Master of Science Degree in civil/structural engineering preferred.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in US
• Experience with pipe stress software (AutoPIPE or equivalent)
• Experience with structural analysis software (STAAD or equivalent)
• Experience with Traveling Screens
