Title:Network Engineering Service Engineer
Location: Portland, OR
Duration: 8 months
Job Description
As a Network Engineering Service Engineer, you will:
• Design solutions for network (transport) at OT/IT new sites and determine if cell, radio, private circuit, or even satellite can facilitate transport at new remote locations.
• Schedule maintenance windows for deployments, following all change management processes.
• Manage the selection, ordering, delivery, coordinate activation of transport for IT/OT environments, and then hand over to core networking team.
• Inventory, catalog bandwidth, utilizations, SLA's and create/maintain transport documentation of all transport (Circuits, Microwave, DIA, P2P circuits).
• Researching existing IT/OT circuits for circuit diversity.
• (Last Mile providers, intermediate circuits, and POPs)
• Provide recommendations on system enhancements that will improve reliability, redundancy, and performance of transport.
• Work with Purchasing for circuit contract co-terms and renewals
• Input all circuit information into SolarWinds for monitoring.
Requirement
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
• Ability to think through problems, visualize solutions and work through roadblocks.
• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
• Able to start a project, own it and see it through completion.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
• A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
• Possess good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Dependable and flexible when necessary.
• Possess excellent organizational planning, time management, and communication skills
• Must be able to occasionally travel through Oregon and SW Washing, valid driver's license required
