Magruder Hospital is seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to join our patient-centered hospital laboratory team. Position Summary

The MLS/MLT performs high-complexity laboratory testing in all major lab areas, ensuring accurate results, proper documentation, and strict adherence to quality and regulatory standards. This position supports testing for inpatients, outpatients, emergency department patients, and off-site collections.

What You'll Do

Clinical Testing & Analysis

  • Perform high-complexity testing in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, serology, blood bank, and microbiology.
  • Follow established laboratory procedures for specimen analysis, result interpretation, and documentation.
  • Verify and review daily test results, making corrections as needed and contributing to quality assurance programs.

Specimen Collection & Processing

  • Collect patient specimens using venipuncture, heelsticks, and fingersticks with professionalism and accuracy.
  • Process samples for inpatients, outpatients, emergency department patients, and off-site collections.
  • Collect and process urine drug screens and breath alcohol tests in compliance with federal guidelines.

Quality Control, Compliance & Safety

  • Perform and document routine quality control, instrument calibration, and equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and ensure adherence to CLIA, CAP, and hospital regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits, inspections, and quality review.

Laboratory Operations & Communication

  • Order tests, process patient samples, and ensure accurate distribution of test results to providers and clinical departments.
  • Manage workflow efficiently while working independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Support excellent communication with patients, providers, and fellow clinical team members.
