We believe that the best ideas can come from anyone, anywhere, at any time, and that curiosity is the key to anticipating our clients' needs and exceeding their expectations.

Your Team's Impact

FactSet's Deep Sector Oil & Gas team delivers critical fundamental analysis and sector-specific content to a diverse client base including investment banks, private equity firms, commodity traders, oil and gas producers, and midstream operators. We drive innovation by developing market-relevant analytics and industry-leading data solutions that address today's and tomorrow's energy challenges.

What You'll Do

You will join a team of midstream and natural gas subject matter experts, data scientists, and software engineers dedicated to transforming flow data, supply and demand fundamentals, and pricing information into actionable industry insights. In this role, you will maintain a sharp focus on natural gas pipeline flows, storage and transportation developments, regional and market pricing trends, M&A activity, regulatory dynamics, and gas/LNG market fundamentals. A core aspect of the position involves leveraging pipeline flow data and market information to develop robust forecasts for natural gas demand and pricing, while also delivering advanced analytics to uncover trends, risks, and key market drivers. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable querying and analyzing large datasets as they are crafting clear, compelling narratives for a sophisticated client audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor North American midstream and natural gas developments through industry news, press releases, investor presentations, regulatory filings, and market data sources.
  • Analyze midstream activity, including pipeline operations, infrastructure buildouts, storage trends, and transportation flows to identify key trends, operational shifts, and emerging market developments.
  • Author timely, well-crafted research reports and client commentary covering midstream operator performance, infrastructure expansions, M&A activity, regulatory changes, and natural gas or LNG market dynamics.
  • Produce maps and shapefiles to visualize pipeline networks, LNG facilities, storage assets, and flows, providing clear insights into midstream and market activity.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to drive data and product development, contributing subject matter expertise to enhance analytical tools.
  • Deliver forward-looking forecasts and analysis tailored to a diverse, sophisticated client base.
  • Present findings, forecasts, and market outlooks to clients through meetings, webinars, and conference calls, responding to client questions and facilitating data-driven discussions.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Mineral & Energy Economics, Energy Management, or a closely related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and GIS software, with working knowledge of Python for data interrogation and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to write insightful, timely research and convey complex data as clear, compelling narratives on tight deadlines.
  • Experience contributing to research reports, technical publications, or client-facing analytical products.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without need for employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with natural gas market fundamentals, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing trends, and production patterns.
  • Comfort incorporating AI tools into research workflows to improve efficiency and output quality.
