Vehicle Merchandise Manager – Indianapolis Market

Position Overview

The Vehicle Merchandise Manager is responsible for ensuring exceptional vehicle presentation, merchandising standards, lot organization, and overall property appearance throughout the Indianapolis market. This role oversees vehicle flow, inventory presentation, transportation coordination, and lot management across multiple locations to support retail sales, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Lot Management & Cleanliness

  • Maintain exceptional standards for parking lot organization, cleanliness, and overall property appearance at all assigned locations.
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly parked, displayed, and merchandised according to company standards.
  • Conduct regular lot walks and inspections to identify and correct presentation issues.
  • Monitor and maintain customer parking, service parking, and associate parking areas to ensure a professional appearance.

Vehicle Merchandising & Presentation

  • Oversee merchandising and presentation of all vehicle inventory, including:
    • New vehicle inventory
    • Used vehicle inventory
    • Company-owned vehicles
    • Wholesale inventory
  • Ensure vehicles are frontline-ready and displayed to maximize customer appeal and retail sales opportunities.
  • Verify vehicles have proper plate frames, inserts, pricing information, and merchandising materials as required.
  • Monitor vehicle condition and coordinate corrective actions when cleanliness or presentation standards are not met.

Vehicle Flow Management

  • Coordinate the movement of vehicles through the merchandising process to ensure timely frontline readiness.
  • Work closely with the Photo/Detail Manager to ensure vehicles progress efficiently through:
    • Vehicle intake
    • Detailing
    • Photography
    • Merchandising
    • Frontline placement
  • Monitor aging inventory and assist in maintaining proper vehicle placement and visibility.

Detail Center Operations

  • Oversee transportation receiving activities at the Indianapolis Detail Center.
  • Coordinate vehicle deliveries and pickups with transportation carriers.
  • Ensure incoming vehicles are received, inspected, documented, and routed appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate communication regarding vehicle status and location.

Wholesale & Auction Coordination

  • Organize and manage wholesale inventory designated for auction.
  • Ensure wholesale vehicles are properly staged, secured, and prepared for transport.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics with Manheim Indianapolis and other auction partners as needed.
  • Monitor auction-bound inventory to ensure timely movement and compliance with company processes.

Communication & Accountability

  • Partner with dealership management teams to maintain merchandising and presentation standards.
  • Communicate inventory concerns, transportation issues, and operational challenges promptly.
  • Provide regular updates regarding lot conditions, inventory flow, and merchandising performance.
  • Maintain accountability for execution of company merchandising standards across all assigned locations.

Performance Expectations

  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional dealership lots at all times.
  • Ensure vehicles are merchandised and front line-ready with urgency.
  • Support inventory turn objectives by facilitating efficient vehicle flow.
  • Improve customer experience through exceptional vehicle and property presentation.
  • Assist in maximizing retail sales opportunities through best-in-class merchandising standards.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Dealership Lot Manager, Merchandising Manager and or Inventory Manager experience preferred
  • Professionalism, ability to hold others accountable, motivated to achieve goals
  • Able to work in variable climates with both indoor and outdoor work
  • Tech savvy and able to learn and navigate different software programs
  • 18 years of age or older to comply with company driving policy
  • Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screen in accordance with local law/regulations
