Mechanical Engineer – Nuclear (Commercial Grade Dedication)

Location: Oak Ridge, TN
Employment Type: Direct Hire-Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in nuclear commercial grade dedication (CGD) to join our client's team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and support commercial grade dedication (CGD) activities in accordance with nuclear regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate and qualify components, materials, and suppliers for nuclear applications
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and procurement documentation
  • Develop and execute technical evaluations, test plans, and inspection criteria
  • Interface with suppliers, OEMs, and internal teams to ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards (e.g., NQA-1)
  • Support audits, assessments, and documentation related to dedication and procurement engineering
  • Provide technical guidance on material selection, design verification, and component suitability

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related engineering discipline)
  • 5+ years of direct experience in the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial grade dedication (CGD) processes
  • Strong understanding of nuclear codes and standards (ASME, NQA-1, etc.)
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation and supplier evaluations
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and quality teams

Candidates will typically come from:

  • OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers)
  • Nuclear power plants, particularly mechanical procurement engineering roles
  • Third-party suppliers or service providers supporting nuclear utilities
