Job description

About Beauty Chain Manufacturing (BCM)

Beauty Chain Manufacturing (BCM) is a next-generation contract manufacturer serving the beauty, personal care, skincare, color cosmetics, hair care, body care, and OTC markets. Founded by the team behind the successful growth and exit of FusionPKG, BCM combines innovation, speed, manufacturing excellence, and supply chain expertise to help brands bring products to market faster and more efficiently.

Operating from our state-of-the-art, 100,000+ sq ft U.S.A.-based manufacturing facility, BCM offers in-house formulation, compounding, filling, packaging customization, quality assurance, warehousing, fulfillment and distribution services all from our corporate headquarters in Reno, Nevada. Our mission is to become the preferred manufacturing partner for emerging, high-growth, and established beauty brands by delivering constant innovation, exceptional service, reliability, and speed to market.

Position Summary

Are you ready to shape the next breakthrough in beauty? Beauty Chain Manufacturing (BCM) is looking for an experienced, innovative Senior Formulation Chemist to rapidly development and innovate exceptional color cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and OTC products for some of today's most exciting beauty brands.

You'll take formulations from concept through commercialization โ€” blending scientific rigor with creative problem-solving, balancing bold innovation with fiscally responsible formulation, and partnering closely with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to bring new ideas to market fast.  Here, innovation isn't just encouraged, it's expected โ€” and as BCM grows, you'll have real opportunity to influence product strategy and help shape the future of our R&D organization. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your ideas matter, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

  • Formulate and develop cutting-edge color cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and OTC products โ€” from emulsions and anhydrous systems to powders, balms, serums, creams, lotions, and cleansers โ€” taking each one from concept through commercial launch.
  • Formulate with fiscal responsibility, balancing bold innovation with smart, cost-conscious ingredient choices to deliver products that perform beautifully and hit target price points.
  • Partner directly with customers to translate briefs into winning formulations quickly, including rapid pricing and costing turnaround that keeps BCM ahead of the competition.
  • Draw on deep knowledge of raw materials, ingredient trends, and vendor relationships to source innovative, high-performing materials and bring fresh ideas into the market.
  • Serve as the technical expert and mentor for laboratory staff while providing formulation direction to manufacturing and operations teams.
  • Scale formulations from lab bench to full-scale production, partnering cross-functionally to ensure a seamless technology transfer, consistent batch quality, and long-term stability.

What You've Done

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • 5+ years of progressive formulation and product development experience in color cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and OTC, with a proven track record of taking innovative formulations from concept through successful commercialization.
  • Experience scaling formulations from laboratory batches to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Extensive chemistry and raw material knowledge.

What You Bring

  • Extensive technical knowledge of cosmetic formulation science โ€” emulsions, surfactant systems, powders, anhydrous systems, pigments, waxes, polymers, preservatives, and active ingredients โ€” across color cosmetics, skincare, hair care, body care, and OTC.
  • A strong instinct for ingredient economics, weighing performance, safety, and cost to keep formulations both innovative and fiscally sound.
  • Thorough knowledge of GMP, GLP, FDA regulations, OTC Monograph, and cosmetic industry best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven, detail-oriented approach, plus the organization to manage multiple projects against aggressive timelines.
  • A natural collaborator and mentor with excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate technical concepts clearly for customers and internal teams alike.
