About this Opportunity:
As a Practice Management Lead, you will serve as a consultative partner to financial advisory firms, helping advisors build healthier, more scalable, and more valuable businesses. This role evaluates advisor business operations, identifies opportunities for improvement, and recommends practical strategies across operational efficiency, organizational design, business planning, profitability, client segmentation, capacity planning, pricing, service models, and sustainable growth. The Practice Management Lead partners directly with advisor leadership teams to facilitate planning discussions, coach implementation, and drive measurable business improvement. This role also collaborates with internal technology consulting and behavioral finance partners to deliver comprehensive business consulting solutions while maintaining ownership of the core practice management workstream. As we continue to evolve and live our Orion values, we are looking for someone to grow with us.
It is anticipated that an incumbent in this role will work as a Hybrid employee, with three (3) or more days each week required on-site at one of the listed office locations.
Candidates should be located within a commutable distance to an office. Internal candidates currently aligned to an Orion office location may be given preference; however, internal candidates with varying work arrangements may be considered based on experience and business needs. Work location is subject to change based on business needs.
In this role, you'll get to:
  • Consult with financial advisory firms to evaluate business operations, identify opportunities, and develop actionable strategies that support growth, scalability, profitability, and enterprise value
  • Lead practice management engagements focused on operational efficiency, organizational design, business planning, capacity planning, pricing, service models, client segmentation, and sustainable growth strategies
  • Advise advisor leadership teams on staffing models, delegation, role clarity, organizational structure, and capacity needs to support scalable business operations
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions, business reviews, accountability meetings, workshops, and educational presentations with advisors and firm leadership teams
  • Coach advisors through operational and organizational change, helping translate recommendations into practical implementation plans and measurable outcomes
  • Develop, refine, and maintain repeatable consulting frameworks, tools, playbooks, diagnostics, and best practices for the Business Consulting team
  • Analyze advisor business models, financial metrics, benchmarking data, operational KPIs, and practice management trends to inform recommendations and decision-making
  • Collaborate with internal technology consultants, behavioral finance specialists, and other cross-functional partners to deliver comprehensive consulting solutions aligned to advisor needs
  • Create and deliver thought leadership, webinars, training materials, and advisor education content on practice management and business optimization topics
  • Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues impacting independent advisory firms, RIAs, broker-dealers, and wealth management organizations

  • Has strong business acumen with the ability to assess advisor business models, operational needs, growth opportunities, and financial performance drivers
  • Has effective consulting, facilitation, coaching, and executive communication skills
  • Influences stakeholders, guides decision-making, and supports organizational change with advisor leadership teams
  • Has strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret business diagnostics, financial metrics, benchmarking data, and operational KPIs
  • Has ability to develop practical recommendations, implementation plans, and scalable consulting resources
  • Has ability to build and sustain trusted professional relationships with advisors, business owners, and internal partners
  • Has effective written, listening, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Manages multiple priorities, works independently, and maintains attention to detail in a client-facing environment
  • Has proficient skills with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Has a minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • Preferably has an advanced degree or relevant industry designation, such as CFP
  • Has a minimum of 5 years of experience in practice management, business consulting, management consulting, financial advisory firm leadership, wealth management, or a related field
  • Has experience advising business owners or leadership teams on growth, operations, organizational effectiveness, profitability, or strategic planning
  • Preferably has experience working with independent RIAs, broker-dealers, financial advisory firms, or wealth management organizations
  • Preferably has experience developing consulting methodologies, playbooks, advisor education programs, or business optimization frameworks
  • Preferably has public speaking, workshop facilitation, or executive presentation experience

Salary Range:
$113,942.00 - $178,877.00
The pay listed in this posting indicates the estimated pay at the time of this posting; however, may vary depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
