This full-time position is designed for a dedicated professional ready to take control of our dynamic games and toys category. Situated at our corporate office, this role is pivotal in shaping the future of our product offerings, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving business results in a lively and competitive market.

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Games & Toys Buyer to lead the purchasing, assortment planning, and vendor management for our Games & Toys category across both retail stores and marketplace sales channels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industry trends, consumer buying behavior, and seasonal demand, with the ability to build compelling assortments that drive sales and profitability.

Games & Toys Buyer Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the buying strategy for the Games & Toys category.
  • Source and evaluate new products, brands, and vendors that align with company objectives and customer demand.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional opportunities, payment terms, and vendor agreements to maximize profitability.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and vendor partners.
  • Create and manage seasonal assortments, ensuring a balanced mix of new, core, licensed, collectible, educational, and trending products.
  • Analyze sales performance, inventory levels, margins, and market trends to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to optimize product availability while minimizing overstocks and markdowns.
  • Place, monitor, and manage purchase orders to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, eCommerce, and store operations to support product launches, promotions, and seasonal events.
  • Monitor competitor assortments, pricing, and emerging trends within the games and toy industry.
  • Identify opportunities to grow category sales through exclusive products, new vendor partnerships, and trend-driven assortments.
  • Prepare sales reports, inventory analyses, forecasts, and category performance reviews for leadership.
Games & Toys Buyer Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Retail Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of buying, merchandising, or category management experience, preferably in toys, games, collectibles, or consumer products.
  • Strong understanding of retail buying, inventory management, forecasting, and assortment planning.
  • Experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret sales data and market trends to drive profitable purchasing decisions.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP, merchandising, or inventory management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of current toy, game, collectible, and entertainment licensing trends is a plus.
  • Passion for games, toys, and emerging consumer trends is highly desirable.
