Job description

Ready to take your tax career to the next level? Coldstream Tax & Consulting is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our growing South Lake Union team. This is more than just a traditional CPA role - it's a unique, Partner track opportunity to apply your tax expertise while expanding into the world of wealth management. If you're looking to grow your skills, collaborate with a supportive team, and play a meaningful role in helping clients manage and preserve their wealth, we'd love to connect.
In this role, you will report to the Managing Partner, providing tax planning and preparation, financial planning, and investment management services to a broad range of clients.
For nearly 50 years, our team has provided a wide range of services to small businesses and individuals. In January, we merged with Coldstream, an employee-owned wealth management firm that offers personalized services to high-net-worth individuals and families. Coldstream was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Bellevue, with additional offices in Seattle, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Portland, Bend, Boise, and Kenai, AK.
Our front desk is staffed Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Once you are fully trained and can complete projects independently, you will have the flexibility to work remotely; one to two days per week. While a lot of firms talk about work-life balance, we actually practice it; we have only one busy season per year.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Review and prepare tax returns and provide guidance and technical advice on complex tax issues to high-net-worth individuals, families, and their businesses to help maximize tax efficiency
  • Stay current on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax planning opportunities
  • Educate clients on various wealth management topics
  • Provide wealth planning services to clients, including income tax, estate, wealth transfer, cash flow, retirement, and Social Security planning
  • Conduct business development activities to attract new clients

Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA designation and a desire to add PFS (through AICPA) or CFP financial planning designation
  • 5-6+ years of experience in accounting, including 4+ years in public accounting
  • Desire to grow professionally and attain Sr. Manager and Partner roles
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to explain complex tax issues
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

Job Benefits
In terms of salary expectations, we assess each candidate individually based on their experience and qualifications and offer competitive compensation that reflects the value they bring to the team. Base salary typically starts between $140k and $185k, plus an annual bonus and a generous benefits package.
We offer a full package to meet your needs:
  • Pay: Competitive base pay plus annual bonus
  • Benefits: Fully paid premiums for medical/dental/vision, short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance
  • 401(k): 100% company match up to 4% of your annual pay
  • Stock: Opportunity to purchase equity and become an owner of the firm
  • Paid Time Off: 20-28 days per year (increases with tenure) - plus 10 holidays and an extra paid day off each year to do volunteer work
  • Career development: 100% training/certification/licensing/dues reimbursement plus a formal mentoring program
  • Parking: heavily subsidized parking (you pay $36 per month) or transit pass
  • Wellness reimbursement
  • Paid Parental leave: 12 weeks paid for all new parents
  • Paid sabbaticals every 10 years and anniversary bonuses every 5 years

Coldstream is committed to inclusion and diversity. To us, diversity means employing team members of different races, genders, ages, physical abilities, national origins, religions, sexual orientations, ethnicities, political ideologies, educational and military backgrounds, and more. We welcome, support, and respect all team members, and we value the wide variety of experiences, opinions, and talents that they bring to the company. As we grow, we continue to cultivate an environment in which all team members' perspectives and contributions are treated with respect, and every individual feels confident that they belong and are empowered to be their best.
