Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) Technologist to join our growing neurophysiology team. The technologist will provide intraoperative neuromonitoring services during surgical procedures to assist in the protection of neural structures and reduce the risk of neurological injury. The technologist will perform and monitor neurophysiological modalities including EEG, SSEP, MEP, EMG, TOF, and other monitoring techniques under the supervision of a neurologist and in collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff.

This position requires travel to assigned hospitals and surgery centers throughout Southern California and the ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring during surgical procedures.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain monitoring equipment before, during, and after surgery.
  • Apply EEG, EMG, SSEP, MEP, TOF, and other monitoring electrodes according to established protocols.
  • Obtain and maintain high-quality baseline recordings.
  • Continuously monitor neurophysiological data throughout surgical procedures.
  • Recognize significant waveform changes and promptly communicate findings to the supervising neurologist and surgical team.
  • Document all monitoring activities and intraoperative events accurately and completely.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, hospital requirements, HIPAA regulations, and patient safety standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, inventory management, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain hospital credentialing and required certifications.
  • Participate in on-call, weekend, holiday, and emergency coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience in Neurodiagnostics, Biological Sciences, Healthcare, or related field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of neurodiagnostic experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and electrophysiological monitoring techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in operating room environments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to multiple hospital locations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNIM (Certified in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring) Certification.
  • R. EEG T. Credential.
  • Prior experience performing:
  • EEG
  • SSEP
  • MEP
  • Free Run EMG
  • Triggered EMG
  • Train of Four (TOF)
  • Brain Mapping
  • Cranial Nerve Monitoring
  • Experience in spine, neurosurgical, orthopedic, ENT, and vascular procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures.
  • Ability to lift and transport monitoring equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and on-call schedules.
  • Ability to travel between hospitals and surgery centers.
