Job Summary

The IT Manager (ITM) is responsible and accountable for the smooth running of all computer systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines. The ITM supervises the implementation and maintenance of Dynalectric Oregon's overall computing needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage information technology and computer systems

  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems (computer deployments to end users, server deployments-both onsite and remote locations, printer setup, mobile device management and setup, application support, and coordination with EMCOR resources)
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures (utilizing existing EMCOR SOP's and Dynalectric internal policies)
  • Strategic IT resource planning (keeps abreast of industry trends and standards, attends Kick-off meetings, anticipates upcoming hardware/software needs, identify risks, develop innovative IT solutions)
  • Proactively monitors systems to reduce downtime (Works with EMCOR to review log files, monitor server performance, advise users of potential bottlenecks, schedules off-hours maintenance windows, proactively reviews internet bandwidth usage)
  • Procurement of current hardware with an eye to the bottom line (works with EMCOR approved vendors to ensure adherence with established terms and conditions, best pricing and delivery schedule, selecting high-quality/good value equipment best suited for our working environment)
  • Tests, manages and approves all software updates (develops a test environment, reviews all software updates, determines release schedules, communicate update requirements to users)
  • Works with EMCOR to leverage corporate resources to benefit Dynalectric (attends all EMCOR IT meetings in person/virtually, submits software to EMCOR for review/approval, works with software vendors and EMCOR to meet EMCOR requirements, leverages EMCOR helpdesk for technical issues, and communicates local business needs to corporate IT)
  • Develops onboarding computer documentation (Windows 11 user guide, iPhone user guide, iPad user guide, Bluebeam user guide)

Manage Company Data Security

  • Responsible for data security (server maintenance, file restoration, backup management, CVE remediation, file and folder access permissions, add and remove user access in a timely manner i.e. onboarding/termination)
  • Enforce EMCOR compliance standards (software usage/licensing, approved software, equipment usage/security)
  • Performs system audits (reviews access permissions for file access/financial system i.e. Vista, pVault)

Manage IT Staff

  • Training & development (mentorship, internal training, EMCOR training, task specific training)
  • Coaching & Counseling (weekly staff meetings, one-on-one meetings, coaching, identify training opportunities)
  • Communication of job expectations (punctuality, customer service, professionalism, technical knowledge and expertise, ability to set priorities, security)
  • Performance appraisal (use the prescribed Dynalectric performance review process)
  • Task assignment and scheduling (set tasks, priorities, schedule major activities, ensure coverage during vacations/absences)
  • Reviews and audits IT asset database (monitors existing computer fleet, ensures all hardware is covered under warranty, retires obsolete/out of warranty hardware in a secure and timely manner)
Qualifications
  • BSc/BA in Computer Engineering/Science or equivalent experience
  • 5 years or more in an IT management role
  • Proven knowledge of Active Directory & current Windows OS
  • Proven knowledge of Office 365
  • Proven knowledge of mobile device management
  • Proven knowledge of backup solutions
  • Proven knowledge of VMware and/or Hyper-V environments
  • Proven knowledge of Audio/Video conferencing equipment
  • Previous experience with support of Trimble Construction ERP or similar platforms
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an IT Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The ITM is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Office-based, in a temperature-controlled environment. Typical working hours for the ITM are generally Monday - Friday during normal business hours. Occasional travel to active construction sites in the Portland Metro Area, Statewide, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Phoenix, Arizona. This may include adverse weather conditions.

Direct Reports

The ITM directs the activities of Desktop Support Technicians and the IT Lead, including work prioritization, coaching, scheduling, and alignment with operational and corporate IT expectations.
