HDR is hiring a Traffic Design Engineer (S&PM and Signals) to work in our South Florida Transportation Business Group in Miami.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Review of signing, pavement marking and signalization plans for FDOT transportation projects, including RRR, partial reconstruction and total reconstruction projects through the FDOT D6 ERC System
  • Review of different types of permits including but not limited to, access, construction, general use, etc. through the FDOT D6 OSP System
  • Perform QC reviews for roadway projects developed by FDOT D6 internal designers
  • Perform complex traffic engineering projects, exercise sound engineering judgment, preparation of signal plans, and PS and E documents
  • Make decisions on design and engineering procedures as needed
  • Function as a technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects
  • May supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience
  • FDOT D6 and Miami-Dade County design experience

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • MS Office knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
