Training Pay: $16/hour

Schedule: Varies week to week; this role requires flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays, based on business needs.

Position Summary
The Assistant Manager in Training is a full-time, developmental role designed to prepare future bakery leaders. During the training period, the trainee will gain hands-on experience and demonstrate proficiency across all key bakery functions, including:
  • Guest Services (Joy Creator)
  • Frosting
  • Baking
  • Utility/Operations
  • Merchandising & Presentation (Crafter)
  • Cash Management

Upon successful completion of training, the candidate will transition into the Assistant Manager role with expanded leadership responsibilities.
Training & Development (90-120 Days)
  • Gain hands-on experience in all bakery roles through structured training and daily practice
  • Learn and uphold brand standards for product quality, guest experience, and cleanliness
  • Develop working knowledge of scheduling, inventory, and basic financial operations
  • Receive ongoing coaching, feedback, and formal performance evaluations
  • Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a team-oriented mindset

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead with a strong guest-first mindset and model exceptional service
  • Support the Bakery Manager in daily operations and team supervision
  • Motivate, coach, and develop team members to achieve performance goals
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management
  • Maintain organization and effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Ensure high standards in product quality, cleanliness, and visual presentation
  • Assist with ordering, inventory control, and cost management
  • Execute opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and deposits

  • Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Coordinate special orders, large deliveries, and offsite events
  • Support community outreach efforts and local partnerships
  • Utilize bakery systems (POS, scheduling, reporting) and assist with troubleshooting
  • Understand basic financial concepts, including sales drivers and profitability
  • Step into any bakery role as needed to support business demands

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in hospitality, food service, or retail preferred
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience with team leadership responsibilities
  • Experience in hiring, training, and developing team members
  • Familiarity with scheduling, inventory management, and cost control
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Food safety certification preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
