Finance & Accounting (Corporate Shared Services)
The Finance and Accounting Department at DOWL is responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and meeting all compliance requirements. The team supports both corporate operations and project specific functions, working across the organization to provide full cycle accounting services, reporting, and forecasting.
Summary
As an Accounting Specialist, your responsibilities will span a wide range of tasks, including invoice preparation, cash receipt processing, project reporting, project setup and maintenance in Deltek Vantagepoint, and special assignments that support both corporate functions and project-specific needs. You'll work closely with Project Managers to ensure billing accuracy and timely collections, assist with audit preparation, and serve as a knowledgeable resource across accounting functions. To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Three to five years' experience in accounting.
  • Accounting degree preferred.
  • Experience in architecture/engineering/construction environment preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Prepares monthly invoice and related reports.
  • Assists Project Managers with client invoicing questions and collection.
  • Researches cash receipts, coding, and posting of receipts.
  • Prepares remote bank deposit.
  • Assists Project Managers with project coordination to include system setup, project maintenance, and document management.
  • Review monthly financial project reporting to ensure accuracy for revenue recognition and client invoicing.
  • Provide back-up assistance to other accounting technicians.
  • Assist with audit preparation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate, act, and operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications.
  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external parties to maximize performance, problem solving, and results.
  • Strong understanding of business office management.
