Combining mental health care, telehealth services, and physical wellness modalities, our practice is proudly contracted to serve diverse populations, including extensive work with Veterans Affairs (VA) health networks. We are expanding our team to integrate professional acupuncture therapies into our collaborative healthcare model.
Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Acupuncturist (Licensed Acupuncturist, Medical Acupuncturist, or Chiropractic Acupuncturist) to join our integrated clinical team as an independent 1099 contractor. In this role, you will evaluate patient medical histories, formulate personalized treatment plans, and administer acupuncture treatments to manage pain, reduce stress, and treat conditions like PTSD and anxiety. This position involves managing referrals through the VA Community Care Network (CCN) to deliver 100% covered care to authorized veterans.
Compensation & Schedule Flexibility: We offer competitive, flexible compensation structures tailored to your preference as an independent contractor:

  • Hourly Pay Rate: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour (dependent upon credentials, license type, and experience).
  • Commission Structure: Generous percentage split on gross collections/reimbursements from insurance and VA Community Care network claims.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Complete autonomy over your calendar. Choose your own hours and set your availability to maintain an ideal work-life balance.

  • Fully Supplied Clinic: One Alkaline Life provides all necessary clinical supplies, including sterile needles, sheets, cupping equipment, and PPE. You simply bring your expertise.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Assessment: Collect comprehensive medical records, review health histories, and assess physical indicators to diagnose energetic or physiological imbalances.
  • Treatment Delivery: Safely administer acupuncture using sterile, thin needles, and utilize modalities such as cupping, moxibustion, or electronic stimulation.
  • Collaborative Care: Partner with our mental health therapists, nurse practitioners, and massage therapists to offer holistic, multi-tiered patient support.
  • VA Compliance & Electronic Documentation: Maintain meticulous, HIPAA-compliant patient charts, detailing clinical progress notes and billing codes required for VA authorization and reimbursement.
  • Patient Education: Counsel clients on holistic wellness, stress management techniques, stretching, and lifestyle adjustments that align with an alkaline lifestyle.
  • Safety & Hygiene: Strictly adhere to OSHA, Clean Needle Technique (CNT), and local healthcare sanitation guidelines.
Required Qualifications & Education
  • Active State Licensure: Must hold a current, unencumbered license to practice acupuncture in the State of Maryland (or active MD/DO medical license / Chiropractic license with specialized acupuncture certification).
  • Board Certification: Active certification from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) (applicable to L.Ac. tracks).
  • Degree: Graduation from an ACAHM-accredited acupuncture program or an accredited medical/chiropractic school with necessary acupuncture credentials.
  • Insurance Eligibility: Clean background check and eligibility to register/credential with the VA Community Care Network (CCN) and major commercial payors.
  • Malpractice: Maintain active professional liability insurance.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience treating veterans or managing trauma/PTSD and chronic pain conditions.
  • Strong manual dexterity, clinical problem-solving, and diagnostic abilities.
  • Excellent patient engagement, warm interpersonal communication, and team-player mindset.
