Job Summary
The Health Informatics Trainer is responsible for developing competency-based education programs for employees with focus to establish/improve skills and foster retention of knowledge. The Informatics Trainer will develop education materials, curriculum and training schedules. The Informatics Trainer will provide education in a group classroom setting, online through an e-learning or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), or on a one-to-one basis. The Informatics Trainer will focus on the software products that support the medical and dental electronic health records. The Informatics Trainer will assess the effectiveness of the education curriculum and course outcomes. In addition, the Informatics Trainer will make necessary adjustments and provide on-going support and coaching to employees, including on-the-job training and functionality support.

Experience
  • Healthcare work experience with the use of any EHR system (2 years)
  • Knowledge of EHR workflows (2 years)

Preferred:
  • Experience in the development, delivery and assessment of educational programs (2 years).
  • NextGen experience (2 years)

Job Specific Functions/Performance:
  1. Develops competency-based education programs including, education materials, curriculum and training schedules.
  2. Conducts routine training needs analysis through in person assessments as well as statistical reports designed to provide data on efficiencies and effectiveness of use.
  3. Remains knowledgeable in the most current versions of the organizations EHR (EMR and EDR).
  4. Assesses the effectiveness of the education curriculum through active listening and course outcomes and makes necessary adjustments to meet the needs of the trainee.
  5. Provides on-going support and coaching to employees, including on the job training and functionality support.
  6. Assists managers in evaluating the performance level of employees and assists with the development of action plans for additional training.
  7. Provides education in a group classroom setting, online through an e-learning or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), or on a one-to-one basis.
  8. Collaborates with the Information Systems Department for Help Desk issues regarding software utilization/functionality support, and participates in upgrades as needed.
  9. Participates in committees/teams designed to optimize use of the EHR and support consistent practices across the organization, assisting with customization as needed.
  10. Adheres to standards in order to perform the job functions for daily operations and/or continuity of patient care.
