Job Description
The Role:
As the Global Senior Manager of Socially & Environmentally Responsible Sourcing, you will lead and drive the strategy of the environmental & socially responsible supply chain program across direct and indirect supply chains. In this role, you will help strengthen sourcing practices, support business continuity, and promote clear standards for supplier performance across the supplier lifecycle. Working cross-functionally across the business, you will embed sourcing expectations into supplier selection, contracting, performance management, and continuous improvement.
This role closely partners with Corporate Global Sustainability and other key stakeholders to translate corporate objectives, policy requirements, and evolving regulatory expectations into practical supply chain processes, controls, and supplier-facing requirements. This leader owns the Supplier Code of Conduct and associated governance, due diligence, and risk-based supplier oversight, including assessments, audits, mitigation actions, and issue resolution. The role is also responsible for supply chain reporting, disclosures, and leadership updates, using metrics and dashboards to assess supplier behavior, demonstrate compliance to external stakeholders, and strengthen GM's credibility on ESG performance across the supply base. • Build trust and partnerships - Partner internally with Corporate Global Sustainability, Purchasing and Legal to integrate requirements into sourcing packages, supplier onboarding, contracts, and supplier performance management (including training and communications). Actively lead engagement with external industry partners.

  • Develop and maintain program metrics, dashboards, and management reporting; prepare leadership updates and support external reporting needs (e.g., customer requests, sustainability reporting, regulatory submissions).

  • Provide clear and timely updates to senior leadership

  • Support and deploy innovative solutions within your area.

  • Develop talent and organizational capability, including day-to-day coaching, performance management, and career development for team members, ensuring alignment with GM values and behaviors.

Top candidates will demonstrate:
  • Experience running or advising on multi-tier traceability programs, a strong understanding of the evolving global regulatory landscape, and the credibility to act as a trusted subject-matter expert for both customers and internal teams.

  • Deep expertise in Supply Chain Sustainability/ESG, and/or Responsible Sourcing, with a track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives or projects and driving measurable improvements within their function.

  • Expertise in sustainable sourcing and human rights due diligence concepts (risk assessment, supplier engagement, audits/assessments, corrective action, and continuous improvement), including familiarity with common frameworks and expectations (e.g., OECD Due Diligence Guidance, Supplier Codes of Conduct)

  • Advanced communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to create executive-ready materials that translate complex concepts and data into clear, compelling insights.

  • Strong customer-centric leadership, with the ability to listen to the voice of the customer, influence stakeholders at multiple levels, and effectively teach and coach others.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to interpret risk data, prioritize actions, and drive timely remediation in a dynamic environment

  • Strategic orientation and learning agility, with the ability to quickly adapt to new information, environments, and priorities while constructively challenging the status quo within their scope.

  • Proven people leadership, including mentoring, motivating, and eliciting high performance from direct reports and cross-functional partners.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Compliance, Sustainability/ESG, and/or Responsible Sourcing.

  • Proven track record of people leadership experience directly leading teams with a minimum of 4-5 people, driving results, and personal accountability with oneself and team

  • Proven negotiation, supplier management, and analytical skills applied to complex, high-impact business decisions.

  • Demonstrated success operating in a multi-stakeholder environment, setting expectations, aligning stakeholders, and following through on commitments.

  • Strong project/program management capability, driving initiatives to completion under tight deadlines and competing priorities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to distill complex issues into clear, concise messages for diverse audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a track record of leading and influencing cross-functional and global teams.
