Description
JSI invites you to join our team as a GIS Specialist on our Information Technology team in Nephi, UT, where you'll play a critical role in advancing broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion— while advancing your career within a mission-driven, growth-focused organization.
About the Company:
JSI is a leading full-service consulting firm specializing in broadband solutions. For over 60 years, we have provided independent communications service providers with expert financial, engineering, management, operational, regulatory, and strategic guidance. Our extensive industry knowledge and proven track record of success have empowered clients to achieve sustainable growth and profitability. With over 1,000 clients nationwide and a powerful presence in markets such as Florida, Texas, Maryland, and Alaska, JSI empowers rural and regional broadband providers to expand, evolve, and excel in a rapidly shifting digital world.

Position Overview:

As a GIS Specialist at JSI, you will support rural fiber projects by creating, modifying, and maintaining GIS designs. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone with foundational GIS experience and a strong desire to develop a career in GIS within the telecommunications sector.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update GIS fiber network data using platforms like ArcGIS Pro and QGIS, incorporating field audits, as-builts, and construction drawings.
  • Digitize and edit vector data to meet project-specific standards and ensure spatial accuracy.
  • Create basic network maps and reports to support planning, permitting, and engineering phases.
  • Transform and tailor geospatial data from public sources and across formats for project needs.
  • Apply geoprocessing tools and perform QC/QA checks to ensure data integrity and topological correctness.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and GIS teams to meet deadlines and maintain JSI standards.

Required Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years of GIS experience with a certificate or degree in GIS, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient computer skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Self-driven, with strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail.

Benefits & Compensation
  • Competitive salary + performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).
  • Generous PTO and travel support.
  • Ongoing professional development and educational opportunities.
