Job description

Job Description:
Permian Resources (NYSE: PR) is seeking a geophysicist at our corporate headquarters in Midland, TX. This role reports to the Asset Geosciences Manager and delivers geophysical support to both asset and operations teams across PR's portfolio. The ideal candidate brings strong technical and communication skills, contributes expertise-driven guidance, and collaborates effectively with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced setting.
General Responsibilities:
  • Provide structural/stratigraphic 3D seismic interpretations from basin to asset level, offering critical feedback on development planning, drilling operations/geosteering, and completions.
  • Calculate seismic attributes (e.g., coherence, acoustic impedance, spectral decomposition, etc.) and interpret these attributes to assist asset and operations teams with project planning, target delineation, wellbore execution and completions planning.
  • Generate post-stack/pre-stack inversions, and robust time-depth/depth-depth conversions.
  • Interpret subsurface geomechanical properties and conduct stress analysis.
  • Support microseismic data acquisition and interpretation.
  • Deliver geophysical interpretations for acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Assist with 3D seismic data acquisition and processing projects.
  • Monitor induced seismicity trends in the Permian Basin and provide risk-assessment feedback

Basic Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years' oil and gas operator experience required.
  • Permian Basin experience required.
  • Working knowledge of petroleum system fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in well log interpretation, synthetic generation, and basic rock physics.
  • Exposure to 3D seismic processing/reprocessing (PSTM/PSDM).
  • Familiarity with geophysical workflows from acquisition and processing through interpretation, attribute generation, and QC with an emphasis on delivering high-quality geophysical products.
  • Detail-oriented approach to QI/QC and ability to quantify/communicate risk and uncertainty.
  • Experience supporting full-cycle field development and daily operations.
  • Ability to communicate complex geophysical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound recommendations based on incomplete information.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and experience in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Willingness to reside in Midland, TX

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Geophysics
  • Permian Basin experience
  • Proficiency in Petrel software preferred
  • Proficiency in Kingdom experience
