Job description

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Petrophysicist/Geophysicist or Petrophysical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting petrophysical reservoir, geologic and seismic evaluations and analysis and providing technical expertise. Our ideal candidate has a solid understanding of petrophysical principles, well log interpretation, rock mechanics, core sample analysis, seismic analysis and reservoir engineering. They must also be able to effectively interpret data from geologists and reservoir engineers. Ultimately, the role will contribute to the successful evaluation of oil and gas reservoirs by providing accurate and comprehensive petrophysical/geophysical assessments.

Key Aspects

  • Interpret and analyze data from drilling and other sources to determine the presence and mobility of hydrocarbons in the reservoir with evaluation and modeling of properties (like porosity and permeability) and dynamic behaviors (how fluids move through rocks). Special emphasis on seismicity and BHP within the reservoir in correlation to injection wells.

Core Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Gather and evaluate geological data fromwell logs, core samples, and seismic surveysto assess rock properties such as porosity, permeability, volume and fluid saturation.
  • Reservoir Characterization: Integrate geophysical, geological, and petrophysical data to createreservoir modelsthat support active injection well management and new well development decisions.
  • Formation Evaluation: Performwell log analysisand core interpretation to identify injection zones and estimate reservoir volumes, analyze confining zones, fault and fracture analysis.
  • Collaboration: Work closely withgeologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineersto optimize drilling locations, production strategies, and reservoir management and to assess risk related to injection.
  • Well Planning & Drilling Support: Contribute towell planningand provide real-time analysis during drilling operations.
  • Reporting & Presentation: Prepare detailedpetrophysical reportsand present findings to management, clients, or stakeholders. Documenting findings and providing detailed reports on reservoir potential to aid decision-making.
  • Technology Use: Utilize specialized software (e.g.,Petrel, Techlog, Excel) for data analysis, visualization, and modeling.
  • Innovation: Develop or adopt new techniques and tools to improve data collection and interpretation.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degreein geology, geophysics, petroleum engineering, or a related field; preferMaster's or Ph.D.degrees.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency inwell-log interpretation, seismic analysis, reservoir simulation, and petrophysical modeling software.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret complex subsurface data and manage uncertainty.
  • Interdisciplinary Knowledge: Strong understanding ofrock-fluid interactionsand reservoir behavior.
