About the Role

Neglia Group is looking for talented, energetic and self-motivated individuals with good communication skills for a Design Engineer position in our Mountainside office location in New Jersey. As a Design Engineer, you will work directly with our Senior Design Engineers, under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, to plan and design various civil engineering projects, including roadways, parks, public infrastructure, and site developments for municipal and private clients. You will also perform technical analysis and review of site plan applications submitted to municipal land use boards and prepare reports that identify relevant zoning, engineering, and land development deficiencies. This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build technical expertise and contribute to meaningful projects that improve communities, within a collaborative, experienced firm that values excellence and long-term relationships.



Responsibilities

  • Prepare designs of roadways, site grading, stormwater management systems, utility infrastructure, soil erosion and sediment control measures, construction details, and additional drawings as necessary
  • Prepare regulatory permit applications related to wetlands, flood hazard areas, soil conservation districts, and other local, county, and state agencies
  • Research and interpret municipal ordinances, land development regulations, and permitting requirements for preparation of site plan and/or stormwater management review reports
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design tools to prepare engineering designs and calculations in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
  • Conduct site visits and field surveys to gather data, take measurements, capture photographs/videos, and document site conditions
  • Attend client meetings, municipal meetings, and participate in project coordination with architects, attorneys, contractors, and other consultants
  • Prepare engineering reports to support various design elements of projects, including stormwater/hydrologic calculations
  • Perform quantity takeoffs/zoning analyses and prepare construction cost estimates, bond estimates, and other supporting technical documentation
  • Prepare contract specifications for public bidding in accordance with the NJ Local Public Contracts Law
  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with project managers and other team members to ensure project objectives, budgets, and deadlines are met
  • Prepare NJDOT, NJDEP, Open Space, CDBG, and other grant funding applications to support public infrastructure projects
  • Provide support during construction, including responding to RFIs, submittal reviews, and field inspections
  • Attend municipal council, board, and any other relevant evening meetings, as required
  • Manage multiple project assignments while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering required from an accredited four-year college or university
  • EIT certification required or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in Municipal and Private/Land Development engineering
