Job description

Viking Automatic Sprinkler would love for you to join our team as a Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer. In this position, you will work with our team of salespeople, project managers, and field crews to lay out and design fully functional fire sprinkler systems. Job Summary:
A Fire Sprinkler Designer Engineer will work in a team environment to design water-based fire protection systems. Work will include all aspects of system design, including CAD layout, code interpretation, design submittal, coordination, and material procurement. This individual will also support the project through installation and turnover to the owner. VFPG places a strong emphasis on individual training and development, with excellent opportunities for advancement for those driven to excel.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with the design team to complete the layout and design of complete sprinkler systems, including hydraulic calculations
  • Ensure the design meets NFPA and local code requirements
  • Provide detailed drawings to field crews to ensure seamless installation
  • Perform drafting/layout of fire protection systems, interpret codes, coordinate with architects, engineers, building trades, and officials, handle material procurement, and collaborate with field personnel

Requirements:
  • CAD experience required
  • Experience with HydraCAD, AutoSprink, or similar software preferred
  • Experience using Bluebeam or Adobe Pro to mark up and package PDFs preferred
  • Self-motivated, driven, and detail-oriented; able to multitask on ongoing projects and demonstrate a strong sense of teamwork
  • Experience with fire protection systems, building codes and standards, and general construction preferred
  • Experience with MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Word required
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree with an engineering emphasis preferred
