Additional Information About the Role

Christian Hospital is looking for a Patient Safety & Risk Management Specialist. 

This position plays a key role in advancing patient safety and risk management initiatives. The ideal candidate will partner with leaders to review incidents, conduct root cause analyses (RCAs), and help develop and implement effective action plans.
A high level of flexibility, professionalism, and strong communication skills is essential to effectively support teams and foster a culture of safety.
Monday-Friday, on-site position. Previous experience working in clinical roles is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

This position facilitates patient safety and clinical risk management within assigned HSO or facility and provides support and acts as a backup for a region or geographic area. Partners with system leaders to ensure execution of standardized patient safety and risk management workflows with use of standardized tools and processes, including active participation in interfacility patient safety and risk management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Focuses on root causes and preventable error to provide guidance, education and coordination of patient safety initiatives and clinical performance improvement, including the development, implementation and measurement for assigned projects using a data driven approach.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative approach in providing education, coaching, and assistance to team members and leaders with regard to improving patient safety, clinical quality improvement, and clinical risk management.
  • Performs tasks and duties associated with the clinical risk management program including risk identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation. Also seeks ways to reduce the legal exposure of the organization and supports investigations, analysis and collection of documents for pending claims and litigation.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and provides input and guidance on continual advancement of patient safety program and risk management.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
