Job description

SUMMARY: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, integration, and troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical systems used to test, repair, and validate aerospace components within an FAA repair station environment. This is a hands-on role that owns work from concept through implementation, including system design, instrumentation, data acquisition, and validation.

The position requires a practical, solutions-oriented engineer who can work both independently and collaboratively to resolve technical issues and improve system performance. As part of the Engineering team, this role drives the development and enhancement of test equipment and capabilities, while providing ongoing technical support for complex systems to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop custom test equipment and test stands from concept through implementation.
  • Perform hands-on system integration, including wiring, instrumentation installation, and system bring-up.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical systems at the component and system level.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and test requirements to develop effective solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documents, including schematics, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Select and implement appropriate sensors and instrumentation based on measurement and environmental requirements.
  • Develop and support data acquisition and control systems (e.g., LabVIEW or similar platforms).
  • Analyze test data and system performance to identify root causes and drive improvements.
  • Support calibration, validation, and verification of measurement and test systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry and regulatory standards (e.g., ARINC 668).
  • Provide technical guidance and support to technicians and cross-functional team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement of test processes, equipment reliability, and overall capability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (e.g., electromechanical, mechatronics).
    • OR 3 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of relevant technical work experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems (e.g., sensors, data acquisition, signal conditioning).
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting, testing, and supporting electrical systems or equipment.
  • Understanding of common industrial signal types (e.g., voltage and current signals) and fundamentals such as grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation.
  • Experience working with engineering design or analysis tools (e.g., CAD or equivalent systems).
  • Experience with test, troubleshooting, or automation software (e.g., LabVIEW or similar platforms).
  • Proficiency with standard business software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation MRO, or other regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting or developing test equipment, test stands, or automated systems.
  • Familiarity with HMI development, Data Acquisition (DAQ), or embedded systems (e.g., microcontrollers).
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation integration.
  • Bilingual (e.g., Spanish).

OTHER:

  • The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
