Job description

Are you ready to launch your engineering career with meaningful, hands-on work that makes a difference every day?
Kaukauna Utilities is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team. This entry-level role is designed for recent graduates and early-career engineers who want to build a rewarding career in electric utility engineering.
From your first day, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and field crews to design, improve, and maintain the electric distribution system that powers thousands of homes and businesses throughout our community. You'll gain experience in engineering design, field investigations, construction coordination, and project management while developing the technical skills needed to advance your career.
If you're looking for more than sitting behind a desk all day, this is an opportunity to see your engineering work come to life in the field while making a lasting impact on the community you serve.
What You'll Do
  • Assist with the planning, design, and construction of electric distribution projects
  • Prepare engineering drawings and construction documents using CAD and GIS software
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction inspections
  • Coordinate projects with contractors, municipalities, customers, and internal operations teams
  • Support engineering analysis, project estimates, budgeting, and documentation
  • Learn utility engineering standards, electrical distribution design, and industry best practices
  • Contribute to projects that improve the reliability and safety of our electric system

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 0-3 years of engineering experience (internships and co-ops are encouraged to apply)
  • Interest in electric power systems, utility engineering, or electrical infrastructure
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both in an office environment and outdoors in the field
  • Desire to learn, collaborate, and grow professionally

Why Kaukauna Utilities?
At Kaukauna Utilities, you'll find more than just an engineering job, you'll find a career.
We invest in developing engineers through mentorship, hands-on experience, and opportunities to take ownership of meaningful projects early in your career. Unlike many larger organizations, you'll gain exposure to every phase of a project, from planning and design through construction and commissioning.
Our engineers enjoy:
  • Outstanding benefits package
  • Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) participation
  • Professional development and training opportunities
  • Collaborative, supportive team environment
  • Excellent work-life balance
  • The opportunity to make a direct impact in the community you serve

If you're excited about designing critical infrastructure, working in the field, solving real-world engineering challenges, and building a career in the electric utility industry, we'd love to hear from you.
Join Kaukauna Utilities and help power the future of our community.
